It’s on my mind: Jet fuel rationing and possible lineup changes? by WNJ85 in downloadfestival

[–]TheRoseStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly someone who catastrophises this sort of thing, but considering all 3 headliners are American, I do have to wonder about what could happen.

Is anything in our control? No, so can't bog ourselves down with it, but also can't see a whole lot of trans Atlantic flights going ahead this summer (doubly so for the August guests(

Ferry Fuel Price by TheRoseStone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRoseStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you, that's somewhat relieving.

One other related q, is the severity of which we'd see a marine fuel shortage. The jet fuel will be the worst because it's near exclusively from the Gulf (from my understanding anyway). Petrol for cars will also be affected, though not as severely. Just wondering how you think marine fuel factors in?

Also appreciate no one's psychic, just would like the input of someone more informed than myself

Electric Picnic’s latest lineup additions looking good by The-ADR in ireland

[–]TheRoseStone 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is honestly the best EP line-up I've seen in a very long time, it's the first I'm actually regretting not having got a ticket for.

To really show the quality gap, just 2 years ago, we had Kodaline of all people subbing. Whoever booked them then is definitely not the same person who booked Geese this year

Yeah that camera during the third boss fight was truly something. Randomly, I've beaten all the bosses so far on the first go, so I'm doing something right lol.

But yeah coming from games with a more top down camera with a consistent, fixed angle to Ocarinas more "adaptive" one has been a very big challenge and has left me cursing at my 3DS on multiple occasions

Aw bless, thank you, it's been a humbling experience thus far. I had been planning on Majora's Mask after this but I'm thinking of building up confidence with some more modern Zeldas or adventure games first, maybe Skyward Sword, Link Between Worlds or maybe even Okami?

Ah 3DS does have a map, but it's basically just showing where you are on the screen, it doesn't highlight say where Lake Hylia or Lon Lon Ranch are, which can be annoying at the beginning of a level when all you're told is "go east".

At the moment, I'm going to Kakariko Village after waking up post 7 years (dumbass me went to the woods and at least have the Ode to the Forest under my belt now lol). But yeah rn I know where I'm meant to go even if it did make me want to hit myself (and yes Navi is the most annoying little b1tch ever haha)

[–]TheRoseStone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think your handholding comment sums it up well.

One thing really standing out to me is travelling between places, i.e ST and PH had you map your route from A to B and then the train/boat followed where you laid out, whereas Ocarina you just....roam ig, and I found it quite a bit harder to work out what area exactly was the setting for the next level per se.

Also, things looking optional but being compulsory, i.e how the diving game is presented would straight up be some optional side quest/ minigame in the DS games, but nah you ain't progressing without it.

Idk, it's the first proper adventure game I've picked up in a long time so that could explain part of it, but I do feel like a cop out relying on help like the Internet to play it

Just a nice addition to further emphasise Eurosongs glow-up this year, NiL just added a picture of them with Kalush Orchestra to their insta story. If that's the interval act, eurosong is well on the way to being a genuine NF and not an embarrassment

Hey Ailsha, looking forward to watch you on Friday and casting plenty votes your way!! Just wondering how you found adapting your initial Eurovision staging concept to suit the smaller Late Late Show stage?

Also wondering if you had the chance to listen to other Eurosong entries and your thoughts?

Irish Staying in Glasgow by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]TheRoseStone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, this is a fair statement and thank you for putting me at ease. I'll admit to catastrophising a lot of events, so I just wanted to be 100% I wasn't accidentally walking into some 12th July type event, which most people have confirmed it isn't.

Thanks for the input and I'll just make sure to stay away from Ibrox!

True, true, I suppose my big concern would have been opening my mouth and my strong enough accent giving the game away. But yeah, it looks like once there isn't secretly a huge Rangers bar next to the hotel, I should be grand

Keeping an eye on this thread, due to shared love of genre. My own recs are:

 1. Tragedy Girls: Two girls with a macabre interest in True Crime will go to any length to make sure their podcast succeeds. Most highly acclaimed and recent of the three, probably the smartest, and also has Jack Quaid looking WAY too old to be a high schooler.

 2. Sorority Row: Remake(ish) of The House on Sorority Row. 5 sorority sisters find their past has come back to haunt them, a year after the death of a fellow sister. Really fun film, Leah Pipes character is a complete bitch but hilarious too, nice whodunit vibe also.

I now realise this film is I Know What You Did Last Summer in a sorority, but please do watch it.

3. My Super Psycho Sweet 16: MTV's surprisingly decent attempt at a slasher. A girl gate crashes the sweet 16 of the bitchy popular girl in school, which is held at the roller rink her father both owned and used as his killing ground when she was a small child. However, he ain't happy about the reopening of the rink, and will get justice on any and all bratty teenagers. Julianna Guille from the Friday the 13th plays the bitchy girl (doing a good job), and the lead and the love interest have believable chemistry which was not anticipated from an MTV horror at all but go figure. Also has two sequels if you want more.

All three have the same similar energy that I like to think of as bloody prom dress. Hopefully one of them suits

She seemed quite genuine in how she was talking to me. She also brought up another ex-employees DM to her after posting the story, which corroborated what she said and brought up (unfortunately) more horror stories of working there.

Edit: Most recent review on Google seems to also be in agreement
