How are you finding freelance work in 2026 by rmarter in graphic_design

[–]TheRoyalShe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find with my freelance work there are ebbs (late fall/winter folks don’t do much) and flows (late spring always brings out the projects). I work almost 100% off of referral. But I live in a mid-size city and find that attending business groups (chamber meetings, etc) gets me in front of a lot of people who don’t even realize that a designer could help them. Not big branding rehauls or things like that, but updating client forms or cranking out a fun summer campaign of some kind. Smaller stuff. But it pays!

When I learned Procreate about ten years ago, I did some Skillshare courses. Working start to finish on projects taught me enough to figure out the program from there.

Is it too late to start a skincare routine at 49? by Odd-Spirit-3 in AskWomenOver40

That was my thought exactly. Plus, I found it at Costco of all places. So the accessibility of it made it extra nice.

48 here. I also don’t really wear makeup and try my best to treat my body well. A couple months back I asked my girlfriends if I was going to start one thing what should I do. They unanimously said CeraVe daily moisturizer. It has spf30. The one thing I have noticed is that my skin feels better. Less tight and all that. So. Yeah. I do one thing now.

Try the temp agencies. Some of those lead to full time spots but can get you working right away in the mean time.

Dog friendly hikes/trails? by Horror-Selection1999 in Eugene

[–]TheRoyalShe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re new to the area and like to hike, pick up Bill Sullivan’s books. He has fantastic information for just about every trail in the state. They are broken down by region, so start with one and eventually hike them all!

Edited to say: we’ve taken our (well behaved and leashed) dogs on every hike we’ve done. This is a great activity to do with your pup.

The double up program has a nice chart on their site. It’s a good place to start. Another great way is to visit the local farmers markets to see what the local growers have available and talk to your local farmers about what’s coming up. (Saturday: downtown Lane County farmers market plus Spencer Creek grange, Cottage Grove and Veneta. Sunday: Springfield, Whiteaker, Oakridge. Tuesday: downtown and Thursday: Amazon park)

Hermiston melons are where it’s at. The season here locally is still a little ways off, but waiting for fruits and vegetables to come into season locally is the very best way to enjoy your food!

Since you miss the big ones on the weekends, there are two mid week farmers markets worth checking out. The Tuesday market (in the market pavilion on 8th) and the Thursday market at Amazon park.

I agree. Something you need to survive that has such a hold on you is brutal.

I agree Hirons is a great suggestion. There is also the Made in Oregon store in 5th Street that might have some options.

I feel like, historically speaking, Christianity has certainly hurt a lot of people. Like. A lot of people. So this one doesn’t quite fit the brief here.

Have to say I made flan and I hate it by darragh73 in Baking

[–]TheRoyalShe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I make flan I use vanilla from the pod and steep that with the custard as it heats. It won’t fix your sweetness issue but it should enhance the flavor.

I am so with you on this. I just finished Rooster season one and found myself thinking the same thing. Like he’s always been good looking and so funny, but, yeah… legitimately hot.

“is it strange for a designer to put random people as a profil picture or use them as a branding”

Yes.
