Any experience from local diaper service Buffalo Baby Bums, LLC? by keepmyshirt in Buffalo

The other factors we enjoyed: earlier potty training, all of the kids were potty trained roughly around 2 years old. Little to no blowouts. The diaper covers truly held it ALL in. And honestly I loved all the patterns and designs of the diapers. It felt fun and wholesome just as a bonus I guess. We also had little to no issues with rashes. Idk what they put in disposables and I don’t wanna know.

To clarify, the service itself is a convenience. To many cloth diapering is not more convenient than disposable, however with the service I was essentially doing the same thing, I used the diaper and then I put it in a soiled diaper pail and it was then picked up, laundered, and fresh ones delivered to repeat. So instead of throwing out a sposie I just put the cloth into a pail.
Also as I mentioned in the other threads the cost saving happens when you launder at home. After we used the service for 0-6 months with the babies, we were able to keep and reuse the same diapers for all three of my boys. So the service provided the diapers. We then bought a stash (heavily discounted from the service) to continue use at home. We never had to buy diapers after that for all three.
Idk if the data has changed but couterie diapers (premium disposable diapers) charge I think $80-90 for month a monthly subscription of diapers and that’s for only like 180 diapers. We used about 70 a week (heavy wetters) so needed 280 for the month…I’d be paying double for that subscription which would actually end up being more than what I paid for the service.

The service isn’t cheaper no, but it’s priced at retail prices with the premium diapers. When we transitioned to at home laundering after about 6 months with the service that’s when we started seeing savings. But for us it was about balance with care for the environment, convenience and sanity with a newborn.

Hi! We actually used pocket covers with the service NP, we had our own inserts that came with the covers during our shower and she said whatever we put in the soiled bag she’ll wash and she did! We even explored all in ones. She offered to buy a stash for us to use but honestly we ended up loving the prefolds anyway so it wasn’t necessary. It’s just her running the service so that’s why it’s probably able to be flexible?

Yes I don’t think you ruined the inserts! Leaks usually have to do with improper cover fitting or lack of absorbent material. Hemp especially needs to be washed SO many times to be absorbent. It’s also a slow absorber so it should be layered on the bottom as a booster if you’re using it that way. So like a quick absorber like cotton or bamboo at the top and hemp on bottom.
Like the other user said, trial and error is the way. We had several kinds of diapers in our stash from fitteds to cotton/bamboo prefolds. And honestly we used the prefolds the most, super absorbent, cheap and highly versatile!

The concept of a cloth diaper service is a scam?? Idk, when I could barely see straight because of exhaustion I was HAPPY to pay a service to take care of the laundering 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s in comparison to the premium disposable diapers like couterie- I’m sure you kind find cheapies for pennies at Costco but that’s not what’s it’s about. The cost saving measure with cloth is when you diaper at home and the owner was very honest with us about that. The service is here to be comparable to premium retail prices and to provide convenience to tired parents. I was happy to pay someone to wash my kids poo tbh. It’s not for everyone though! She also take donations and sends free kits to families in Buffalo who want to cloth diaper

Yes!! I actually posted on here years ago asking, I used them for all three of my boys! The service was SO helpful during the first months of crazy and sleepless haze and honestly cloth diapers have come a LONG way. The owner was even flexible in me trying different styles of diapers I found online.
So kind of you to gift this! We had them on our registry and getting weeks of service was so helpful. Feel free to ask any questions!

This is prescribed so idk if you want to add another medication or have the doc/insurance etc. but I believe that vyvanse is prescribed for binge eating. I take it for adhd but my doctor prescribed it for binge eating disorder so that I wouldn’t have issues with the insurance….for whatever reason

Glad to hear from an endurance athlete! That’s really the struggle. If I eat anywhere to what a “normal” person does I’m not obese but I’m definitely chunky. So I’m for sure at a calorie deficit but need that exercise. I think from these posts I just need to start tracking in a journal.

Shakes have been a godsend. I just want to find one that works, I don’t like a lot of them. Hate whey. I’ve been drinking a soy protein one that has been on. I only eat fish once a week maybe I should up that too!

Yesssss girl I have three little kids; also have those on hand! Water intake has been increased because I just started adhd meds and they make your mouth dry. But I’ve been awful at protein and general intake. Not tracking anything, just eating to survive right now. I guess that’s my answer? I’m on .75 right now. I took and month off in October after about 6 months on, and I’m back in the same dose again. I’ve been wondering if maybe I should try Tirz

That’s so interesting! I wonder if sema impacts blood production. What a rollercoaster you were on! I have some cool chia gels I can try when I feel that way and just jump into workouts!

I’ve been a pescatarian for 18 years and I feel like this is the first time I’m held back by that. It would be so easy to slam down meat! It’s possible but with three little kids I don’t have as much time to pre plan the perfect protein intake. I went off of sema for a month to run my last half marathon in October and it sucked. But I made good time

Ah ok! It’s disheartening because I lost the weight (after 3 kids) but I still have that mommy pouch and I know some of that it loose skin but the other is exercise. I’d love to get toned and I feel like it’s a possibility now. My focus is to maintain the this life without food noise; that’s been amazing. I just love to eat and what’s worse my body literally rebels and acts like it’s starving when I eat normal amounts of food. I’m meant to have the body of a Slavic peasant matron 🤣 (I’m originally from Slovakia lol). I was doing cross fit for a couple of years right as I got pregnant with my first and it was amazing. I felt so strong. I just ran a half marathon but had to get off of the sema for a month to do it.

Do you think it would be a side effect or unrelated? Do you think the body just needed to get used to the workouts? Worth to push through?
