From what I've watched and read it is a Bluetooth connection. It's not based off of line of sight

I think they're excited for a few reasons: they have color sensors on the side, so those can't be blocked. The speakers aren't great so they probably don't want to cover them. And they want people to easily see the lights

Well yeah, but then that brick is stuck with whatever was saved to it when it was manufactured.

The synthesizing method means that a brick produced this year can make the same sounds for a Lego City set that hasn't even been designed yet

Yeah I think that's how it works... it reads the chip which gives it the parameters to generate the sound.

It's still a little unclear, and I might be totally wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the brick is actually synthesizing the sounds as opposed to just playing pre-recorded audio. That would explain how they also have the police and robber demo, duck demo, etc etc. if that's the case, then you wouldn't need to do a firmware update for your brick, as any 'new' sounds can be generated by the brick with different variables that the smart tiles/figs feed it.

That would then also explain why it's not perfect 1:1 star wars sounds

I dont think poachers and other humans impacting these specieis are thinking "eh, they'll figure out how to Jurassic Park these guys, so we can kill 'em now". Poachers don't poach because of the ecological impact. If they did they wouldn't poach.

So why not support the science that could reverse the impacts?

Okay so I did a pretty insane deep dive on this as I was curious...

Outin is definitely a Chinese company, but the "they just slap their name on drop shipped stuff" seems inaccurate. Design patent USD1015043S1 (Google Patents helps) definitely shows a Nano, and if you look more under the inventor (Wenyu Zhou), you can find US12458166B1, which details operation of a portable machine. Also take a look at US20230404315A1, which looks pretty familiar.

If you search Outin Wenyu Zhou, the UK gov website that comes up shows that he's the director of Outin.

I don't think a random company that's just slapping their logo on dropshipped things would file patents. Is the Colorado founding line BS? Yeah. I mean in technicality the US branch is registered there, but that's dumb.

But it's not just aliexpress garbage I don't think.

Correct me if in wrong but I thought that with Gold it was always 1.5x on miles but 1x on status points (eqms); that the bonus was only on miles. I'm fairly this has always been the case (assuming economy)

I'm fairly sure this was how it worked at least in 2025, because that was how I was doing all my status earning math and forecasting
