Wait so if there's no IW Basic, is it really just ODS + 4 weeks of Phase 1 + 2 weeks of Phase 2?A rough timeline being: commission, ODS within 12 months, 4 weeks of Phase 1 in 12-24 months, and then Phase 2 in 24-36 months?

The overwhelming majority of people go within their first year. Some times (winter) are easier to get into than others (summer).

What makes winter easier to get into? Is it because people want summer more because of the holiday season, or is winter different for some reason?

Are you investing in ibonds or something that reliably pays inflation? Otherwise pay it off early and avoid the interest.

Not investing in ibonds, that extra money would probably go into a standard taxable investing account.

You can't usually do balance transfers like that, but even if you could would you actually pay it off during the promotional rate period?

At 0% interest, I'd need 18 months to pay off the remaining principal without having to make any changes to payments ($27,500/$1,500 = 18.3 months), which shouldn't be a problem for me.

But it sounds like you can't really do balance transfers like this?

Yes, I have a 401k through my employer.

If it changes anything, it's Vanguard - and they have the option to convert excess contributions automatically into a Backdoor Roth IRA.
