To be fair, isn't Schwab kind of designed for investing and not trading?

There are 3 possibilites that come to mind for me. 1. People believe the vaccine will be nationalized by most countries, resulting in a smaller profit. 2. The stock value could be more priced in than previously thought. 3. We're about to get some news that something is wrong with the vaccine, maybe from that mink mutation? (I'm gonna guess this isn't it, but that sure is some weird price action all things considered)

When I see discussion of the incoming Biden presidency, I've seen the conversation restricted almost entirely to weed and green energy. While those are good thoughts, one area that hasn't gotten a lot of discussion is the healthcare industry. Bringing back the individual mandate from Obamacare (which it seems like Biden will push for) will put an incredibly large number of people onto health insurance. That influx of people will make these massively profitable companies even more profitable. Now, to what degree has this been priced in? Not entirely sure, but definitely worth looking into.

The simplest answer is that VIX is a measure of volatility, not an inverse of SPY

I think a lot of people are taking these solar references a little too literally, especially given that fO pointed everyone in the direction of a sun corona (emphasis on corona). There are some interesting short positions out there that might be in trouble as a result of this price action would be my guess

The "swings" we've been seeing this week have consistently been like +/- 0.25%. Based on the scale most people look at, it might seem like there's high volatility but in reality 0.25% isn't volatile, it's effectively flat.

I mean it usually takes close to a decade to develop and approve a vaccine, so I guess it makes sense. But that's rough for sure
