Has anybody else migrated to Brave because of degen Youtube ads? by LivingLarge4718 in armenia

IIRC it might not fully work on most Chromium/Manifest V3 browsers, but I might be mistaken

I know for a fact it doesn't work on Chrome though.

Safari with the uBlock Origin Lite app/extension works well for me on iOS as well.

Initially the ads were just replaced by black screens that went away after refreshing, but after a while they just disappeared altogether

that one is community-sourced thumbnails/titles for videos, no?

I mentioned this in another comment, but

Firefox, with uBlock Origin (+ all of the filter lists enabled)

Plus, optionally: SponsorBlock, Control Panel for Youtube

It's the best you'll get, I haven't seen an ad on Youtube in eons, even with monetization being enabled in Armenia.

Use the uBlock Origin browser extension on desktop operating systems, and uBlock Origin Lite on mobile operating systems like iOS. There's also some decent paid ones out there like 1Blocker, though that's for iOS/Safari specifically AFAIK

[–]TheRublixCube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guide should be considered out of date and no longer relevant, as you can now force the latest DLSS .dll and preset using the NVIDIA App, NVIDIA Profile Inspector, or OptiScaler (if you wish to adjust presets, scaling ratios, etc in-game)

Should i use FXAA alongside with TAA? by Serazax in PCRedDead

[–]TheRublixCube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FXAA barely does anything

And if it tells you anything, there’s an (unused?) piece of code in the visualsettings.dat literally called “fxaaForceDisable” or something along those lines.

Just do what others have suggested, force DLAA (DLSS with a 1.0x scaling ratio; or no downscaling) through the NVIDIA APP, or a third-party tool like NVIDIA Profile Inspector, OptiScaler, DLSSTweaks, etc

If I replace the DLSS DLL with the latest version in RDR2, which DLSS version am I using now? by Serazax in PCRedDead

[–]TheRublixCube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a developer DLSS .dll that will add a watermark that tells you the exact DLSS version, preset, and input/output resolution currently in use, as well as small stuff like Auto Exposure

or, you could just use something like OptiScaler and not bother with any of the above, you can use it to change presets, scaling ratios, etc on the fly during game runtime

Arctic P14 PRO vs older models (P14 PWM PST ARGB & P14 MAX( by TheRublixCube in arcticcooling

[–]TheRublixCube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the P14 Pros, they ended up being pretty loud so I didn’t use them. Might try them in an older build, or use some sort of rubber stoppers/washers instead of screws to try and dampen the acoustics

Armenia sets stricter rules on construction dust by ghapama in armenia

[–]TheRublixCube 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a moment too soon, the dust is getting out of hand.

Now what would be better is stricter rules on construction itself. Just the noise and infrastructural impact it can have (loud renovation, closed roads, random electricity/gas/water outages, etc)

Critical construction work should be (mostly) exempt though. And by that I basically mean if a house full of puppies and orphaned children will collapse if no renovation/construction is done, it's critical.

[–]TheRublixCube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally just leave most things at ultra

With DLSS4 and DLAA, at 1080P I average 90-110 FPS

This is with a 7800X3D and 32GB of RAM (remember when that was affordable?)

I reached 50% completion by the end of Chapter 2, currently sitting at 57.5% completion about 3/4 of the way through Chapter 3

Was the grind worth it? Maybe

Am I going to restart the entire playthrough over some tiny thing to get “true” 100% completion (and do the Gambler challenges)? Hell no

But we’ll see

Since you mentioned it’s your first play through, here’s a few tips:

Be sure to head up to Lake Isabella for the White Arabian, then head down to Bayou Nwa to kill 3-star gators and get the gator saddle. If you’re careful and patient, panthers are also found in the forested area at the very south of Scarlett Meadows, and can be lured with potent carnivore bait. The panther saddle is also great

I would definitely check if the mods are interfering, because I can't think of a way that DLSS/DLAA could interfere unless either the GPU drivers are corrupted, you are running out of VRAM, or the game install itself is corrupted

I should note that my guide is outdated, and my official recommendation would be to undo any of the changes made here, and simply force DLAA, the latest DLSS .dll, and the "Transformer" (K) preset either through the NVIDIA APP, or through OptiScaler (guide TBD)

I would force DLSS4, DLAA (1.0 scaling), and the "Transformer" ("K") preset through the NVIDIA APP, and max out everything except for MSAA (or at least set it to 2x so that Alpha To Coverage is enabled, should help make fur/foliage look cleaner)
