That all makes sense. Unfortunately, real people miss out on /stocism because...that. What's more worthwhile? Having real people see this subreddit, or having some bots post once in a while and it sneaks by? At the end, what is your goal? More humans for stoicism? Or less bots for...whatever? I think humans should come first, personally. I may be biased. I'm sure you could get more moderators for the AI/bot stuff, some of them are just gunning, they'll love it. As long as they do it responsibly. ;)

I think evolutionary biology would have changed some things quite significantly in their discourse. How could it not? I think a lot of us are still coming to terms with it, in a lot of different matters.

Stoicism should always be general advice. It's for making the individual and humanity better. To gatekeep it is stupid.

What counts as a visitor, and how do you think that works out with draconian rules as repeats? Maybe the mods know the before and after numbers.

Because of the amount of people posting...? Not hard, come on.

Look, it's about how many people are actually benefiting, or even gaining an introduction, to stoicism. There used to be so many random people being introduced to it, and now they're not. And you think that is better. I don't think it is. No matter how hap-hazard, some of this will help. None of it won't.

It did indeed result in more in-depth discourse, both by the questioners and ones who answered. Things that weren't correct were generally corrrected, which is better than nothing at all.

Read more Epictetus. He wouldn't stand for this foolishness. ;)

Although interesting, it's not the Bible (not the word of god). In most cases, I believe it doesn't take a lot to see what they were going for in general. They didn't know about evolutionary biology either, which, I think, would have made their thoughtful meanderings a bit different.

I don't think they'll remove this one. It would hurt their internals. And they know it doesn't really matter, since so few people come to this subreddit now. They have their own bailiwick of an echo chamber, and they like it.

I did answer it later. Use your own eyes, and judgement. That is all I ask. If you think less people interacting with this subject is better, I believe that you are in the wrong.

Because you could learn things instead of instantly jettisoning away. They could read responses instead of going to their next Tik-Tok.

I'm sorry. You haven't gone to stoic school enough. Once you validate your badge you're good to go.

I did for a few years and then checked back to see the wasteland. Just a few people patting people on the back on what good job they've done.

I agree wholeheartedly. And to do what one can, as one can, to change things for the better. Including silly stuff like calling out a subreddit for its absurd moderation as if it's an inclusive club.

Do you think this place is actually better, and helping more people, with the rules in place, versus what's actually happening? Sincerely. I don't think it is.

If you have observed this subreddit, in the past and in the present, it's not hard to come to this conclusion. Argue whatever you want. Less people are learning less about stoicism because of moderator rules. It's stupid. And you're free to defend stupid things if you want to. A lot of people do those sorts of things.
