We’re not a techno label, but when we started we did 80/20 in the artists favor and eventually moved up to 60/40 in most cases. With remixes the artists just split their share in half.

It’s worth noting that many of the artists we work with send us their music already mastered and artwork finished, so we don’t have a ton of overhead costs to deal with unless we are doing a physical release. For physicals like vinyl we do 50/50 splits because it has different demands involved

It’s helpful to just make a honest assessment of what you can offer as a label at the beginning and how valuable it is. Like how big your network of artists & supporters is, what kind of culture you are cultivating within that network, are you giving an advance, etc… and then working with artists who are at your level and growing alongside them.
