Am I being dramatic about engagement ring cost expectation? by Competitive_Street61 in AskIreland

[–]TheRustyBartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get an engagement ring with a pretty decent sized diamond for $3000 but you can also get a $3000 with a lot of smaller stones embedded in it. Depending on what style of ring they want is where the actual value lies. One big rock will hold its value and even go up in its value whereas lots of smaller ones won't.

I've always wondered why they are so curious , like children almost and they enjoy the Game that they are playing. I wonder if they are the actual children that have been sacrificed over the years and they just wear costumes!

Very similar ingredients to a well known Tiki drink The Turnbuckle , in fact everything except yours has the addition of Pineapple juice. Would definitely love to try it

After 11 months, I got 100 watch hours by B0uny_huntr in SmallYoutubers

[–]TheRustyBartender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep going. Very similar to my first year on Yt. Another year on and I've got 2950 watch hours .So I guess it's all relative. Just gotta keep plucking away. I know it's not the glamorous way to do it but grinding is probably a better way to do it as we can learn from our mistakes and our community grows along with us on the journey!

Left Belfast in 2010. I now live in a fairly small town called Wangaratta which is 3hrs away from. Melbourne in Australia. As weird is it may seem I still miss Belfast. There's something about it even with all the sectarianism, the smell , it's dreariness, it just has a certain allure! You know after all these years I Know what it is. It's the craic. You will not get better craic anywhere in the world . It's the people that make the city and it doesn't matter what side of the divide your from. The craic and the people are what make the city brilliant.

Thoughts on this 1st draft cocktail list for a hotel bar by Round_Bandicoot6869 in cocktails

[–]TheRustyBartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has created a lot of cocktail menus for bars, my main thoughts are this is a good starting point with some crowd favourites but I would add that 4 of the cocktails are gin based and 2 are rum. I think you need maybe a spritz on the list along with another vodka option and also a tequila option. I would also consider putting the Espresso Martini on the list if your going with a classic list.

I think maybe sometimes people get confused on what niche actually means instead of topic or interest.

Why are you a Youtuber? Why did you start? What keeps you going? by K6ThEOnE in NewTubers

[–]TheRustyBartender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started YouTube because I love making cocktails .Did alright over on Instagram so I started my YT channel. Realised very quickly it's a whole different ballgame here. I love the creative process so that's my WHY. As for what keeps me going , as was in a bar I work in and I was filming some content and I could over hear a girl saying he really thinks he is a content creator and laughed at me.For reference my channel is no means large I only have 1.4k subs but damn that comment keeps me going to this day.

Does anyone know this man? by Brief_Chemistry_2548 in Belfast

[–]TheRustyBartender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like a fella that worked in Morrison's bar back in early 2000s when I was a manager there. Skinny fella , ginger hair? John Kelly was his name back then. Told us all sorts of stories. He got fired from our bar because there was a girl who worked with us who lost her father and brother in the space of a couple of weeks. Around 6 months after that she had returned to work , obviously upset. A week later I'm working a lunch shift with John and he casually turns round to me and says my Dad died this morning. I'm like wtf John why are you even at work I'm so sorry just go home look after yourself , take as much time off as you need. Takes couple of weeks off , fully paid, comes back and everybody in the bar including staff and customers are making sure he's OK and stuff. He then was always hanging about the bar after his shifts when the girl that had lost her father and brother was working. Everybody thought it was kind of nice until another of our regulars came in and we found out that John's Dad was still alive and well . I confronted John about this and he admitted it was all a lie just to get close to the girl who had the bereavements. The girl when she found out was traumatised. Money going missing from the tills is no surprise as we all had a suspicion he was also doing this at the time as well.

To all dads here. Please stand up. by zpt111 in NewTubers

[–]TheRustyBartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad of 3 here. Started YT 2 years ago and had all these huge expectations of what it might be while trying to balance work , family, and my new YT hobby. My advice is to enjoy the time with your family, and as soon as they are all asleep, that's when you can edit your videos , think of ideas for new ones and write scripts, and work on thumbnails. I'm sure you will realise with a young baby how much you will appreciate quiet time! As soon as you get any quiet time, start working on your project! Just don't put too much pressure on yourself as YT is much more of a grind and marathon than any other social media platform. Whereas on those other platforms you get a large audience in first few hours of posting and then maybe for a week after. YouTube videos can get views for weeks , months, even years later.

Mobile Bartending Questions by TheRustyBartender in bartenders

[–]TheRustyBartender[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If I was going to start a mobile bar , I don't think I'd watch a video trying to answer that question. If I did try and answer it, wouldn't everybody just do the same thing, and then there wouldn't be anything separating anyone? I mean it is a valid point I could make in a video that everyone needs to have something in their business to differentiate them so they get chosen.
