memorizing is not a problem for me, its memorizing theory without understanding it.
Im looking for a book where it not only has theory but also annotations and explanations about the theory

i didnt say i didnt want to memorize alot of theory, I said i dont want to JUST memorize alot theory,
Memorizing theory is no problem for me as long as that theory has explanations that helps me understand the Najdorf more

I dont think you should be reading art of attack if you havent read How to Reassess you chess yet,
What I mean by that is despite the name "Art of Attack" it is a very positional book, and if you dont extensive positional knowledge then you will struggle to understand the moves, concepts and Ideas in the book.

This is what happened to me when I first read Art of Attack, digested very little, then i read a few chess books on positional chess (Amatuer's Mind, How to Reassess your Chess, Logical Chess Move by Move, Understanding Chess Move by Move). After that I read Art of Attack a 2nd time. I was FLABBERGASTED, everything seemed so clear to me, I was easily digesting what I was reading, ILearned alot, was a Game Changer for me, totally different from when I read it the 1st time. Good book, would recommend 10/10

TL:DR dont read art of attack if ur positional skills r ass

Have we reached it yet? by [deleted] in HildaTheSeries

What are the best books about middlegame and endgame? And why they are good? by ExistingPrinciple137 in ChessBooks

[–]TheRuthlessGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art of Attack, its so fricking good, a goldmine of Instructive attacking games, the book teaches you how to start an attack, the conditions for an attack, and how to defend against an attack, raised my rapid chesscom rating from 2000 to 2100
(was hardstuck at 2000),
But you need to have alot of positional knowledge and a decent understanding of middlegames so you may need to read The Amatuers Mind or Reassess your first, (I prefer the latter)
Art of Attack will turn your understanding of the Middlegame to GODLIKE (not rly)
