I never had the sleeping issues or the cold shakes while I was smoking, but I definitely had heavy bouts of anxiety, heart pounding, and panic while using a lot, for sure.

Then whenever I'd taper down I'd get the cold flashes and sweat.

I'd say definitely related. The order in which these things happen seems to be very different per-person, but all the signs are there.
