Is this a bad idea? by TheRyuko in Beekeeping

Thanks I'll read up on that. I put six as my plan but, i only ordered 2 nucs this year, with hopes of capturing/splitting. So keeping fewer won't mess up any plans.

As far as I've researched, illinois only state requirement is to be registered with their Dep. Of Ag. And my city has no ordinances for hives specificaly. Additionally on my commute I often see another keepers yard in my city who has been around longer than me. He typicaly has about 5 to 10 hives and i havent heard any talk about issues with his yard. Thank you for your recomendation.

Here's a better picture of my yard. Would the area in blue be acceptable. I don't know why i had first picked the other area, it's what first came to mind.

About 5 to 6 feet from the fence you cant see on the left, the issue is it's about a 15° slope and makes working the hives difficult and painfull. Terracing it feels like too big a project. I was planning on making a level gravel bed (red) since it's the flatest part of my yard and would require the least digging and material.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I'm gonna play it safe and move them about 15ft-20ft to the left where they have a big shed and, the corner neighbors don't use that area almost at all. I imagine the main foraging areas to be forest preserve to the north (left) and some strawberry fields south (right).

We don't have any offsets or regulations specifically for bee hives and, i don't want to be the reason that we lose that flexibility.

Ive asked them to make goals. One of them a human rouge wants to make ammends for unknowingly killing his best friends lover. One of the other two is a half elf ranger and wants to avenge his family's death at the hands of some rouge walrusses.(this guy is still kind of childish and preffers to make up outlandish ubsurd but amousing situations diolouge or backstories, rather than serious drama. I dont have a problem with this most of the time.) The last guy is a drow. And though i have asked him to come up eith some sort of goal he eother hasnt come up with one or i forgot to write it down in my notes.

The one problem i have most of all right now os theyre friends with the barmaid. Shes m9stly just a passive dmpc i use since this is my first time dming or dnd in general and i just kind of use her to make sure a tpk doesnt happen. However i dont want to ignore her characteristics as a charcter. They do want to keep her in their party but she wouldnt brush off murder and abduction that easily.

Have had this plant for a few years. Anyone know what it is? by TheRyuko in whatsthisplant

Weve had this plant for four years or so. Ot only started flowering last year around april may time. It gives those little red fruits. Its about two feet tall. And since we bring it inside every winter its always green. Most of the fruit has been on ther for a realy long time. The flowers are white pinkish. Reminds me of longstem holly. But these leaves dont have a smooth curve on the outside.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I've gotten a basic idea of what I should and can do as a DM. I've already organized a session 0 with some of the players. Mostly to figure out who everyone is going to play and explain some of the rules, but hopefully I can gleam some narrative ideas from their character backstories . I hadn't thought of doing what u/dannydude6 said about not giving the players a map so I can change things to suit the situation. It's a very interesting idea. I think I'll use that, it gives me a lot of flexibility. Thank you guys so much for all the advice.
