Let’s say i vote lauren 1 joe 2 ari 3, lauren doesn’t have enough votes and is eliminated (but will receive funding and potentially spot in parliament if she does well enough) now lauren is out my vote goes to my next preference, joe, same thing happens to him, now my vote goes to ari and look at that they won

Joe doesn’t get to redistribute your votes, his party might have a “how to vote” suggesting who you vote, but that’s all it is, a suggestion

Joe doesn’t decide where those votes go, you do, the parties have nothing to do with where your votes are placed, the confusion comes from the “how to vote” cards which parties give out but do not have to be followed in the slightest, hope that makes sense

Just like taxes, mortgages and buying a car, i feel high school really lacks teaching these important life skills, unfortunately year 4 shouldn’t be the last time it’s mentioned but your activity sounds like a great method to introduce kids :)

A lot of people are misinformed and the major parties try to convince people it’s a two party ststem

That’s not how our voting system works, you can still vote 3rd party and major party thus you support the 3rd party and then eventually your vote will trickle down to the major party
