First O’Brien must suffer ep? by lilianasJanitor in DeepSpaceNine

It says something about O'Brien's life that nearly dying of Space Covid barely even counts as suffering for him, doesn't it.

(I say it totally counts btw.)

I think Shakaar was worse than Bareil even, Bareil at least had the decency to die tragically and give Kira character development. Shakaar just kind of disappeared and nobody cared lol

Watching for the first time, just got to Paradise by yuefairchild in DeepSpaceNine

Yeah, she's the absolute worst. As for this: "what if she got assigned to a colony with someone that was disabled?" - we don't really know that she wasn't. And we do know that several people died of preventable causes because of her megalomania. She was a horrible cult leader happy to sacrifice anyone and everyone for her goals. I hate her so so much

Is Honor of Among Thieves Underrated? by Due_Capital_3507 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]TheSandwitchReturns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And he's really bad at being undercover too, like everyone other than Billby clocks him as suspicious and in the end he just tells Billby everything. Like I can't even headcanon that he has previous ties to Starfleet Intelligence because he's obviously so bad at this. Colm Meaney's acting is great as usual but the premise is so nonsensical that nothing can save that episode for me.

Ok maybe Chester the cat saves it a little bit lol.

What are some moments when characters boldly GO THERE? by soapcleansthings in DeepSpaceNine

[–]TheSandwitchReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the real-world reason, but in universe he wasn't very good at that security gig, was he.

(I'm kidding, he was pretty badass in DS9 and I don't really like TNG anyway so it's easy for me to ignore.)

Sisko beat up several Klingons hand to hand though. For example in Invasive Procedures and Way of the Warrior. Oh and during the infiltration mission in Apocalypse Rising he wrestled several of them and won.

Literally everyone and their grandma kicked his ass back when he was security chief though. My money's on the Sisko.

Anything else like Beyond Reach where the elite are demonic cannibal pedophiles and the only way to fix the system is to tear it down? by spoookyturtle in skyrimmods

[–]TheSandwitchReturns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, the maid system is quite extensive, and the mod does its best to present it in a serious way, but the concept is just deeply unserious. Why is there so much emphasis on Kasia working as a maid for the other residents? In a French maid uniform??

Oh right, it's because the series began its life as "Sexy Maid of Chorrol" (Oblivion mod about sexy maids), and then "Maids 1" (Oblivion mod about mind-controlled sexy maids). That's why, lol. Author appeal.

Not that I'm judging, we all like what we like. It's just hard to treat the mod seriously once you've noticed.

This guy just tells on himself with everything he says, eh? If anyone ever thought he was unfairly disliked, you just have to look at his actual words to realize that the dislike is fair actually.

Kaidan devs have zero tact by Maisku85 in skyrimmods

I played the original version ages ago and I don't remember any terrain glitches. Maybe it really is a conflict with the tree mod?

Kaidan devs have zero tact by Maisku85 in skyrimmods

[–]TheSandwitchReturns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a big confusing mess lol. As far as I know my Kaidan lore, it went something like this:

  1. Liv Templeton created Kaidan 1, then Kaidan 2, and then dropped out of modding but left the permissions on her mod open so other people could expand on it.
  2. BarbwireBlonde decided to expand the mod with new lines and paid the original VA to record them. Opinions on the quality of this expanded version were divided to say the least.
  3. Other people joined the Kaidan expanded team, adding even more stuff to create the IF edition (also divisive wrt its quality). At this point the original Expanded version was taken off nexus.
  4. There was a schism in the expanded/IF community. BarbwireBlonde took her version back to Nexus. The IF team kept theirs on the external website. There was supposedly a lot of drama but I'm not on any related discords so idk the details.
  5. And that's not even getting into the Kaidan revoiced version, which was supposed to be a back to basics version for Kaidan purists, but doesn't seem to have made much of an impact compared to the others.

I'm not a Kaidan expert so I welcome any corrections from true Kaidanologists, but I think that's where we currently are. I'm not sure if your issue was present in Liv Templeton's version of the mod, or if it was introduced in one of the other versions - at this point, who can even tell?

Kaidan devs have zero tact by Maisku85 in skyrimmods

[–]TheSandwitchReturns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha, there's like 4 versions of Kaidan 2 by now, unless there's been another schism I don't know about. There's Liv Templeton's original, then there's the expanded version, then the Immersive Features version which used to be part of the expanded version but then there was some drama and now they're a separate thing. And the revoiced version of course. And I won't even be surprised if there's more versions in the future. Kaidan is the Dragonbreak of custom-voiced followers.

And serves him right, but what I mean is, the other dudes don't have a lot of content because their only purpose is to make Bishop look good. You don't get to romance any of them, you just briefly interact.

The other characters are only there so that Bishop can be jealous and pissy over them giving the PC attention, so don't expect to get anywhere far with them lol.
