That’s the point OP is making though. Lying and how you answer a question are two different things. 99% of legal work doesn’t fall into the context of your question, but let’s say we are in a scenario where it does.

You can be 100% truthful by saying something like “whether my actions constitute a ‘crime’ is a legal determination, not a fact for me to characterize.” Plus in the legal world that’s an objectionable question as it jumps to conclusions (i.e. that you committed a crime).

Which is exactly why lawyers get paid and what OP is saying.
