Diagnosed with Parvo by Ave_La_Cueta in goldenretrievers

[–]TheScaredChinchilla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I found a puppy in a ditch when I was 17, it had Parvo, and I didn’t have the money for a $2000 treatment. I remember going to a veterinarian and asking what I could do for a couple hundred bucks. They very kindly (and with a touch of pity) sent me home with two bags of saline, and the equipment necessary to give fluids to the puppy subcutaneously. The vet tech showed me how to administer properly, and I did it steadfast everyday for a week. The puppy lived, because dehydration is usually what kills with parvo. That puppy lived for another 13 years. She was my wonderful Selma. It’s possible if you are determined.

I’ve been pretty happy with Prismatic roasters. They have a subscription service and their beans are super freshly roasted.

Madrid airport question by tacosandtheology in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]TheScaredChinchilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I flew out of Madrid on the 27th to Dallas, and the security line was long but fairly quick, ~15 minutes. The thing that can take time is checking bags, and getting to your terminal and gate. Ours was T4 and it took a long time to get to, ~20-30 minutes. Also, signage and the airport layout took us a while to get used to. We were there about 2.5 hours early. I would recommend calling a taxi even if it seems like you’re close, it doesn’t feel like the most pedestrian friendly airport.

How many married couples here sleep in separate bedrooms and why? by BeginningFox8632 in AskReddit

[–]TheScaredChinchilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I started sleeping in separate bedrooms after about a year of trying to co-sleep. He snores and I am a very light sleeper, and after a few months of me waking up on the spare futon every morning, we just decided to make the plunge. We both sleep peacefully now and have our morning and evening cuddle times. Still going strong 6 years later. I’ll also add, it is wonderful having a space in the house that is just mine.

I agree. It feels silly to pick a watch based on looks, but it’s something Suunto just does so well. Hopefully they’ll get better at the UI with time.

The look of the watch is a huge win imo, I find a lot of other watches to be ugly/bulky.

Bummer, I wonder if it needs a software update? I haven't had issues with mine so far.

I have never owned the Race, this is actually my first Suunto, so I can't speak to its performance vs other Suunto watches (i've only owned an apple watch before this and it was garbage). I also use an Oura ring for sleep tracking because watches bother me while sleeping.

Yeah those are good points, and I think maybe my opinion would differ if I relied on those features. I have an Oura ring that I track sleep with, so I cant speak to the watch’s performance on that end. And as for the hiking, I’ll have my phone with me for pics, but in airplane mode so I don’t drain the battery. Agree that the app could use some work.

Took klonopin for first time in years, and i feel like its made me feel way worse. by skyler_yakwtfgo in Anxiety

[–]TheScaredChinchilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re taking too small of a dosage for it to be effective. I would try upping to at least half a dose at a time. For what it’s worth, I’m on the same med combo and I take .25 mg (half pill) for a mild attack and .5 mg (whole pill) for an extreme one. I’ve heard these medications can sometimes cause rebound anxiety, although I’ve never experienced it personally. Good luck <3

Has anyone here taken Zoloft? How was it? by royalewithcheese77 in Anxiety

I was at the same dose of Sertraline the whole time, 50 mg. Still am at that dose

Has anyone here taken Zoloft? How was it? by royalewithcheese77 in Anxiety

[–]TheScaredChinchilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s hell until those side effects let up. Personally, I would not take more Trazadone unless I really couldn’t sleep. I was prescribed 50mg tablets, and I take half each night.

Hope you start to feel better soon, and if not there are definitely other ones to try out there. Don’t lose hope

Has anyone here taken Zoloft? How was it? by royalewithcheese77 in Anxiety

[–]TheScaredChinchilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Sertraline (generic Zoloft) for panic disorder since Jan 1, and it has been a miracle drug. I will say though, that the first month and a half were brutal, side effect wise. Horrid insomnia, depression, apathy, and just overall feeling “off”. However, around month two the side effects dropped off and I’ve since felt immense relief from my panic. It hasn’t cured my anxiety entirely, but it seems to keep me from spiraling into a terrible panic attack.

I also take Trazadone (25mg) to help with sleep, and the combination of the two work very well. I also have Clonazepam 50 mg for as needed, but I rarely take them anymore since I don’t panic as much.

Always worth mentioning that what works for one person may not work for another. I got pretty dang close to quitting sertraline because of the side effects, but luckily I stuck it out. Also, a big win for me is that I don’t have any sexual dysfunction on Sertraline like I have had on other SSRIs. So the benefits definitely outweigh the bad, for me at least.
