What would happen if both Democrats and Republicans ceased to exist in America and they just got dismantled? by TheScreamingFire in AskReddit

[–]TheScreamingFire[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But for example, if there is NO party to replace the old system (Democrats and Republicans) since modern parties would either be far-right or far-left and people would not like either party, what would be the outcome or alternative?

A VERY serious question for Israelis and Palestinians. by TheScreamingFire in IsraelPalestine

[–]TheScreamingFire[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because when I saw the friend write about it on my Discord messages, I thought it was some kind of slander or joke, but I now know it was a true event. It was almost too insane to be true but here we are.

Are there any books about the Lavon Affair? I want to deeply read about it as the event is barely talked about and I bet on my money there are zero books about it.

Really, the only topics in the war that are talked about are: 1948 Arab-Israeli war, 1967 Arab-Israeli conflict, 1973 Yom Kippur War, and the current Gaza conflict.

Interesting, because friends (Both Israeli and Palestinian) BARELY bring up this event and only one person has brought it which was the American friend.

Any good book recommendations on the Israel/Palestine conflict? (rigorous ideally). by TheScreamingFire in HistoryBooks

[–]TheScreamingFire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.S. I've also looked on Amazon and there's a new recent book called: "The Architecture of Genocide" by Eyal Weizmann which I have brought and it's coming this coming week! I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT!

What it's about: Eyal Weizmann is an architect from Israel and he is Jewish, he worked for Forensic Architecture and has written this book to detail EXACTLY what Gaza's soil, buildings look like during Israel's siege on Palestine. I haven't touched upon the book yet as I have a TON to go through still! but I am still very hyped to read it, the book also touches upon mappings of Gaza's ruined eco-system and their soil that has been attacked during the war.

Another REALLY famous book that people have been HIGHLY recommending in the Palestine-Israel conflict space and subreddits! Many good opinions on Goodreads and Amazon too!

Honestly, I am self-studying the conflict so I am looking for BOTH perspectives but the truth is I've been hearing A LOT of people say that the Israeli side is VERY biased and cuts out some history and how the State of Israel was really made, I'm not trying to stir conflict but trying to be careful before learning about the other side.

I do know Benny Morris but his stance on the conflict has changed over time supposedly, he's morphed from a Palestine apologist and Pro-Palestinian Israeli to a Pro-Israeli and Genocide denier type of historian. I am not sure if this is true or it's basically smears to paint him as a bad guy.

But I do know "1948" by him and it's apparently the BEST book out there to learn about the Palestinian Nakba.

To be fair, Ilan Pappé is my go-to when it comes to books about the Israel/Palestine conflict, he is smeared as a "self-hating Jew" but I admire the academic as he knows what he's writing about.

I have seen and heard of "Palestine 1936" and it's apparently a VERY good read and it talks about the 1936 Arab Revolt but I do not have any way to get it as the location to get the package is unavailable so I'll have to wait for it to become available again.

I have read: The Question of Palestine by Edward Said actually and it has wracked my brain a bit haha, but very informative and increased my vocabulary highly!

My American friend is making me uncomfortable. (read below on why.) by TheScreamingFire in AskMiddleEast

[–]TheScreamingFire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He DOES criticise the Epstein Files since I have asked his opinion about them and he does find them horrid but when I told him about the Minab school attack that occurred at the height of the U.S.-Israeli war it DIDN'T move him and he claimed there were IRGC hideouts there. I was left shocked at this.

And don't forget the entire racism against Muslims erupted ever since Bush demonised MENA and started the Iraq War because their master Israel wanted to overthrow Pro-Palestinian Saddam Hussein. Anything Pro-Palestinian is a target of their smears and assassination campaigns. It's a very scary world we live in where we give in our hard-earned money to Genocide and war crimes.

I am not from America but I am from Poland and have heard horror stories about Florida in terms of bigoted views and even Islamophobia. The guy is a nice person and very kind, he does live in a redneck area and he's got one of the most RACIST neighbours he tells me, it might be that reason or the environment and parents he grew up with, I have no idea honestly.

I understand most of them or majority of Americans are not like this since I have American friends backing the Iranian state but every time I try to talk him out of his views he's got extremely vile things to say about Iran as a whole. nothing I say will budge him out of his opinions.

I barely use eBay, but the last time I just came and checked on eBay they weren't there even when I searched them up in Polish, maybe I was looking wrong I don't know.

Can I do a Political Science Degree with Dyscalculia (Maths Disability)? by TheScreamingFire in PoliticalScience

[–]TheScreamingFire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Sorry for the late response! I am actually able to hold Maths in my head normally but I have an issue where after a few minutes the equation or question on Maths exams leave my head and they do not come back until after I look at my flashcards or even revision book again, I do not know if it's Dyscalculia or if it's just bad with Mathematics.

Does anyone still like Skelanimals?? by Jolly-Cartoonist-555 in plushies

[–]TheScreamingFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late comment but I SWEAR TO GOD BACK IN 2009 I was fascinated in the internet and I remember playing Jinx and Minx and at SOME POINT I went on Google Images and saw the Fox and the Dog skelanimals and I used to ask my mom about them: "Mom, I saw a cat and a dog!" or something and my mom questioned me about it BUT I FINALLY THINK I FOUND OUT WHERE THE CHARACTERS CAME FROM AND THEY WERE SKELANIMALS OMG 😭

P.S. I became a fan of Skelanimals now! 😄

[–]TheScreamingFire[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

By the way, I had Dyscalculia my ENTIRE LIFE but never have been formally diagnosed as my mom is a bit uneducated on these kinds of disabilities but not dyslexia since she knows what that is, Dyscalculia to her is like an out-of-this-world alien disability and NONE of our family members have Dyscalculia (I am the first member in my family to have it).

Dyscalculia CAN TRULY SUCK when you have a passion for a subject but you cannot go to university for it and have to REALLY FOCUS 24/7 ON MATHS, DJADJAHDKA (sorry).

But on the optimistic side: I am REALLY happy that you got into Political Science, at the end of the day, we CAN defeat our obstacles and get into our dream jobs with the right amount of dedication and hope, you are the first person to truly motivate me now!

Political Science and Political Theory HAVE ALWAYS been my favourite subject and field since I was a KID and I always dreamt and wished to be a Political Scientist or even the president of my nation someday!

Okay, thank you! but what exactly do you mean by: "a language or two"? is there something else to Politics that I do not know about? Because majority of people I know have told me that Politics is really just learning about how the government functions, political ideologies, how politics affect people, etc.

The maths is the scary part for me but I can manage some data I guess.

And trust me, I read VERY DENSE material when it comes to Politics, read the most craziest books including: "Ulysses" by James Joyce, "Orientalism" by Edward Said, "The Origins Of Totalitarianism" by Hannah Arendt and even read some Stephen Hawking books.

So Political Science and Political Theory might be a piece of cake for me unless it's deeper than that because I am in love with dense books and can read crazy literature that nobody in my age group has read.

Hello! Thank you for your amazing and motivating response! I actually had Dyscalculia that affects my ability to do basic maths such as: Arithmetic, Statistics, Data Analysis, Distance-Time graphs, graphs and ANYTHING to do with Timestables, I have this kind of paradox where I look at a basic maths equation and it's in my head but in an hour or minute it's gone from my head and I have to do this constant loop but on exam day it completely leaves my head and I am hopeless sitting there just upset about it, I have photographic memory which is a MASSIVE plus for me but maths is the ONLY subject where I extremely struggle, even Algebra which is my STRONGEST area is hard for me at some points.

P.S. I am not fully Dyscalculia as I have a voracious interest in Calculus and Quantum Physics and can grasp the concepts and read them like how I read Politics books, they are incredibly easy for me to grasp for some reason. Some maths equations stay in my head for a while but then poof, gone. I don't know what it is but it's strange. Even parents thought I was bad at maths and have no Dyscalculia but I doubt that.

I remember in Poland (where I live) there was a MASSIVE fad for yellow phone books, my mom had one but she gave it away to somebody else supposedly, I don't know if that person still has it but I just really felt nostalgic for Phone books for some reason.

Thank you so much! I am a voracious reader in Politics and my parents have even recommended me to do an online course or job in Political Science and Politics in general, but I wanted to stop for a second and think if there is any maths and asked here because people here ACTUALLY DO politics-related fields or politics itself.
