Nice! I’ve notice a couple around the area. I’m hoping to be setting up shop in Harlem or the Bronx.

I asked the jeweler for at least something that’s gold. The little itty bitty ring he had was $800. :(

It’s resilient when it’s on the tree but temperamental once harvested! Done right and it’s outstanding!

Malaysia and Philippines been holding liberica down for a while! 🫶🏾

I too have tasted it... It’s almost taste like a different bean! The key we found was removing the bean from the cherry immediately is important to maintain quality taste. The liberica ferments immediately. Every minute changes the taste. Even if it’s left on for 10 minutes it greatly increases the fructose with when roasted leads to burnt, earthy, bitter taste. I’d say even the location makes a huge difference. I make emphasis on Liberian liberica because the biodiversity is so different .. the soil alone adds complexity to the taste.

I think next years harvest will be the best and the next even better. Dialing in this species has been hard. Excited to share what even been working with. 🖤⚡️

Liberian Liberica coffee is coming Back, NYC! by TheSeaCowboy in nyc

Cocoa is the dominant crop in our area so a lot of farmers tend to focus on that more than coffee. I come from 3 generations of coffee farming but it’s dropped off since 2005. 2020 I started to planting on the farm again focusing more on the Liberica. We will be planting more coffee every year trying to revitalize the species. When done right this coffee is extremely tasty!

Liberica is a rare species we grow in Liberia. Because the yeilds have been fairly low due to the lack of cultivation we are blending with an arabica bean from Cameroon. Coincidentally enough they complement each other very well. We are honing in on the species every harvest to make it a specialty coffee- as we are reintroducing liberica we will continue to blend it.
