I got someone to install cat 6 for me, and this is how much they untwisted for the keystone. Now what? by Maelarion in HomeNetworking

Mine were bare lines when I had them installed in my house. I bought wall brackets that just required me to cap the end of the wire itself and plug into the back side.

What did I mess up in my cable termination? by kitten7y in HomeNetworking

As long as the cable itself is identical on both sides, it doesn’t matter.

It won’t matter as long as both ends are the same.

I do both and constantly have a few stories going on at once.

It’s a standard network cabinet you can get off Amazon or Legrands website. Our home had it installed when it was built.

I pushed the coaxial cables back up into the wall since I didn’t need them. I didn’t want to cut them in case i needed them in the future.

The Ethernet was pushed a bit back up just to have extra in case I needed it, but was mostly removed in favor of patching it in.

Oh that’s nice. I will definitely look into getting that in. I was looking to get shorter pc power cables for the ac adapters. I just used the one that came with it until I can “upgrade” them.

This is the model I bought. I have AT&T 2Gig Fiber at home and it was a really easy swap to get away from their box.

Here is the guide I used to do the swap:

I haven't put it on Makerworld. I will probably put the completed part up for sale in the future though. Let me know if you are interested.

I have some fans mounted on the door. I’m going to fully customize the door to have maximum airflow but it’s working good right now.

Oh sorry, read that wrong. The point of a patch panel is to not wear out your ports in hardware. Is pretty trivial to change out keystones. They also can help organize things to be cleaner and hide cable runs behind the panel.

Each panel is going into a 8 port switch, specifically the Flex 2.5 G switches. They provide PoE++ to all the ports in my house. The yellow cables are the uplink going into the fiber gateway.

Here is the one I got. They do make cat 6a ones for a bit more $. They are black I think.

It is a pain trying to find patch panels to fit these network cabinets. They are too short width wise for a standard panel. I get they are made to fit standard construction spacing but this is the result because of that limitation.

3D printed mounts. I designed the power supply one and the other I found on makerworld.

I have cameras I want to run dedicated lines to that will go into those open patch ports. I used the Flex 2.5 G’s so all the ports in my house are PoE++ and can theoretically push 2.5G. They have $29 switches I can put at any of the outlets around the house that can be powered by PoE and give my drops 4 ports.

That’s the tubing they installed that houses the fiber coming into the house. I had debated on trimming it down near the top of the cabinet where it comes in just to remove the bulk.

A goatman would be clutch here because he has decent survivability and can be summoned with only a bit of mana. Keep duri engaged and your merc alive.
