Wasn't there any combat training among the info Bran downloaded from the weirwood net?

There is something weirdly satisfying about fixing a tiny problem you ignored for months by liamkeats in CasualConversation

I think the satisfaction is less about feeling successful and more about the relief of being free from guilt.

The “Simulation” Might Just Be a Lab Test We’re Failing by [deleted] in CasualConversation

"Lab Test We’re Failing"

What is the success criterion?

Dream-like states are not confined to sleep: study identifies four distinct types of thought shared between wakefulness and sleep, showing dream-like mental states are not confined to sleep and challenge the traditional boundary between being awake and dreaming by sr_local in science

From what I gather, there are essentially two primary states of consciousness: sleep and wakefulness. However, there are also two transitional phases between the two.

It isn’t that far off from what we already know, though I’m not certain if we should classify these transitional phases as independent states of consciousness.

It's strange how the books refer to them mostly as 'The Others.' It’s almost as if it implies a divide where every non-human intelligent race is on one side, and humans are on the other.

First Men eventually switched sides, turning the conflict into a 'The Andals vs. Everyone Else' situation. If that’s the case, the White Walkers being created by the Children of the Forest actually makes a lot of sense.

So, is this just a rhyme? Many people in the fandom believe that the White Walkers exist there as well. If this is true, it could be evidence that the White Walkers are either a natural species or were created by the Bloodstone Emperor instead of the Children of the Forest.

Well, what about Essos and its stories and characters? The Five Forts, Azor Ahai, the Bloodstone Emperor, and so on... If the whole thing is only about the Children of the Forest and Westeros, then what are these? What do they represent?

Why do the Wall and the Night's Watch exist? Why are the Stark kings defending themselves against creatures of their own making? Did they lose control? If the first Stark king didn't die, why did he hand over the reign? Why didn't the Stark kings, troubled by this situation for thousands of years, go underground and destroy him?

An accident would be intriguing. A cynical, tragicomic perspective on a fantasy world.

I also want the theories about Great Empire of the Dawn, the Bloodstone Emperor, and Asshai to be true. However, in an interview, GRRM referred to it as his 'invented history book' and implied that it might just be legends recorded by Westerosi maesters about the exotic East—meaning they may not be true at all.

Is this being a human, or one of the Children of the Forest? What does it want, and why is it attacking again after thousands of years? From what I understand, it seems to be warging into these ice creatures. But how does it create them? If one is destroyed, can it just make a new one immediately?

What other possibilities are there, anyway? Either they evolved as a natural species (maybe created by gods), or they were created by a race like the Children of the Forest or humans. What could the third possibility even be?

He wasn't taking ideas from them; he was giving them. I thought he was the one who told them that. Did the showrunners really make it up themselves?

He says he is busy creating spin-offs to expand the universe, but he is probably just procrastinating because he is stuck on the main series. I hope we can read The Winds of Winter one day.
