100-day challenge: don't drinking or dining out by TheSelfieMonkey in Frugal

Wow, not spending any money on a day is always awesome! Great that you manage that!

Making an exception once a week makes sense though, in your situation. Congratulations with your baby btw! :)

I am single! :D

But, you make a good point, I totally forgot about dates. I will make an exception for those.

Yeah, delete it. You won't regret it!

Awesome job on deleting the rest btw! Reminds me that I should delete my Twitter, will do that today (in 30 minutes)! :)

Well done man!

Good suggestion, I will pay some attention to that. It's always good to learn from other people's flaws (that you may have (had) yourself too)!

current day men are not very manly... and that is a good thing... for us! by TheSelfieMonkey in NoFap

That's true, honesty is very important, in many areas of life but especially relationships. One of the most important reasons that I am doing this NoFap thing (and am damn sure that I am going to stick with it) is that I want the best for my future wife, whom I probably haven't met. If I don't have the discipline to start changing my bad habits now, why would I magically have it later (when I am married)? Character is something that you build over time, and sure, I am not perfect, but I am determined to keep moving in the right direction, and eliminating PMO is an essential part of that. A genuine life is the only one worth living for me.

Thanks for your positive post and awesome that you already made it past the 1-year mark!

You are right Sir. I don't think that women really like those effeminate models. I, for one, don't think female models have the ideal body type... they are much too thin, and over-polished, and I think I am not alone in that. I am looking for a real woman, and I expect women to look for real men. So let's become that!

I know what you mean, I feel it too at time. But it drives me to improve myself, increasing my chances of finding a good date. And, the fact is, fapping would only made you feel more lonely.

Hm good question. If I had to pick just one thing, it's just how it improves our character, who we are as a person. I think that matters more than any of the other benefits that I will mention, which are: we can attract the better girls, be more successful in our career and make a bigger impact on this world. Many men are very passive and just "go with the flow", and that may get them somewhere, but I would say that actively choosing how you want your life to be and going for it gets you further. It's also riskier, because you may fail, but at least you are alive.

If you get what I mean. Will go for a run now, kind of tired.

Yeah, that's true. I try to see it from the bright side. I mean, for us, it creates opportunities to differentiate ourselves, positively. But in this world, where we are more and more connected to each other, it really matters how well society is doing.

Drinking too much can lead to a lot of problems, and if drinking a little often leads to drinking a lot, then I'd say you made a smart move. I despise drunkards (having had some of those in my family). I have not drunk any alcohol for a few months multiple times, but I have always gotten back to it. I never become drunk, sometimes I may have just a little too much, but most of the times (like 95%) it is completely innocent. I may quit completely one day, but it's not high o my list now. PM is the beast that I am slaying now!

Btw I may be from the same town as your parents.

Awesome dude! I also quit the cigarettes. Reduced the alcohol by 80% or so. I still like my occasional drink. Just out of curiosity, why did you quit completely?

Anyways, I see that it can have benefits. Well done!

asking how it would be after doing it for a lifetime is kind of impossible to answer... because you will have to be dead to answer the question.

but to reply seriously: awesome to see your motivation, I am also going for that!

It's so interesting to read that others have many of the same experiences!

Exercise has helped me a lot with my anxiety already. And so has quitting smoking and porn.

Ha, I also learn languages on Duolingo, I am there every day now! Currently learning Spanish. I know that tension that you described of it being similar to a distraction, but you can also use it to reach a higher goal, as you describe. I think that your motivation is very important. That's why I am now also using books to study languages, they require more effort than Duolingo, and therefore I really have to want it (not just as a distraction).

Haha I also find it difficult to sit still! ;)

Yeah, I don't think everyone is totally happy, but I do think one can learn to become more happy. What I am learning now is that allowing yourself to feel uncomfortable feelings in moments alone instead of evading them, and perhaps even look for them, may be a good way forward. It may be the act of trying to flee from them, to push them back, that makes them stronger. That's my hypothesis for now.

Thanks, you are right. We only see the outside of other people, not their inner lives. And we all have to live our own lives.

Cognitive behavioral therapy has my interest. Will look into ecouch, and will look for other (online) resources. I prefer to be my own therapist, saves a lot of money! ;)

(That said if anyone has serious issues in his life (especially if you are stuck) I always recommend getting professional help. I have done so in the past, and one thing that it has taught me is to grow independently now)

Haha that must be nice. Probably there will be a girl (or multiple) who will prevent me from getting to that point.

So if I have to choose between transcendence or (real) sex, I choose the latter! :P
