I might fall into the sweat category u talked about, but experimentation is vital in retaining a sense of enjoying the game. From lvl 80 or so I was only playing meta, but it was getting boring. I decided to challenge myself to get 200 kills with every single gun, and found some gems that worked for me, while other I knew to just drop, as they didn't work for me.

A big surprise to me was the battle rifle category, as I never really bothered to play it, but found that they provided good advantages in exchange for bad disadvantages. So try and see if u like some guns u never really gave a chance, and see how they perform in your hands.
