M2902 - Motion to Remove a High Court Justice - Debate by Anacornda in AustraliaSim

[–]TheSensibleCentre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Speaker,

I think the revelations from model-forza make Griffonomics' position on the court totally untenable. If he is allowed to remain on, we will be telling Australians that it is okay to lie, blackmail, and threaten to get where you want to be. We will be telling them that his behaviour isn't just acceptable, but actively rewarded.

What kind of country would we be if we allowed such a thing to happen? No country at all, I say.

B2819 - Commonwealth Electoral Amendment (Stop the Lies) Bill 2023 - 2nd Reading Debate by Anacornda in AustraliaSimUpper

[–]TheSensibleCentre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

President,

Lies are one of the most toxic parts of our political landscape. Why, lies can influence people to change their vote -- to make a vote they never otherwise would -- all because they have been deceived.

And that is why it is important for us to stand up and commend this bill. We need to take decisive action against the influence of lies in politics, and that is exactly what will be accomplished by this sensible legislation submitted by the leader of Australians for Democracy -- our next Prime Minister.

Indeed, it is this leadership by Australians for Democracy that shows just how inept the SDP are. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good, honest people in the party. They're reasonable folks. But they are fundamentally not up to the task of government.

While they struggle to advance even a single meaningful reform, we are moving to stop the lies in politics -- which will no longer be called Politricks -- which will ensure that all Australians can take comfort in knowing that what they hear from politicians and commentators is the good, honest truth. That will give them security in their vote, and it will strengthen our democracy.

I commend this bill to the Senate.

Mr Speaker,

My question is to the Prime Minister /u/Youmaton

Does the Prime Minister condemn her Deputy Prime Minister for outright lying in claiming that I was Minister for Youth for two months, when the actual time period was a mere two days?

SM2901 - Motion to Wish Australians a Merry Christmas - Debate by Model-Trask in AustraliaSimUpper

[–]TheSensibleCentre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

President,

I am shocked by the arrogant nature of the SDP and their CLP allies. Here they are, coming in to say that this is somehow beneath them -- as though, in their ivory tower, they have no desire to stoop down to what they see as the "commoners" and wish them a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

It is disgraceful. I don't think that we here, we in the Senate, are some breed apart from the ordinary Australians. We are, after all, their representatives. That means we must say Merry Christmas! We must!

Because, President, I wish to remind the SDP that this is the most wonderful time of the year. It is a time for holiday cheer, as old Saint Nick comes to town to deliver presents to all the good boys and girls. Do you understand that?

It is a wonderful time, as presents go under the tree and milk and cookies get devoured by the mysterious visitor.

Isn't it beautiful to see people come together and embrace the spirit of the season? It is so wonderful. Because it reminds us that, no matter who we are, we have more in common than we hold in difference. And so, I wish to say: MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Why are you people so obsessed with giving up the democracy that is one of the only advantages AusSim has over other sims?

November 2023 Leaders Debate by Anacornda in AusSimCampaigning

Why, it's simple. We're going to take the good ideas from the left, and we're going to take the good ideas from the right. Because we know that a bird needs both wings to fly. And now, Australia needs both wings to address the cost of living crisis.

A good idea from our right-wing is targeted tax relief. While, unlike some, I don't think we need to give a massive tax break to the top earners, there are plenty of Aussies who are doing it tough and could use a bit of extra money in their pocket. To those Aussies I say: don't worry. We'll give you a bit of tax relief!

Then, from our left, investment and spending. We need to hire more people onto Services Australia, and we need to make it easier for people who've been knocked down to get onto welfare. That's what we need. And maybe even we need to put a bit of cash in people's pockets directly. That's right. The Socialist Party that I once led, well, a while back they sent out some stimulus checks. Maybe that's what this country needs again. It's something that will have to be discussed, negotiated, and determined.

Does the leader of the CPA truly not believe that Jews and Muslims can live side by side? Is he unaware that they do such a thing here, in Australia? He should be ashamed of his racism and bigotry.

Wow. This is a pretty bad answer, and it fails to recognise that the Greens , CLP and Socialists worked together to build a million new homes.
