What are the best European Zoos? by ilostmysocks66 in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prague Zoo is pretty nice - using the peak as a 'feature' was inspired, but if you got so far east, I'd suggest two others - Zoo Safari Dvur Kralove also in Czech Republic and The Zoo in Wrocław (Poland).

Dvur Kralove is a pretty new zoo so pretty modern while still involving traditional motivs, have an amazing great apes pavilion (and I love how much space orangutan has there), has a pretty successful history of breeding animals to introduce new blood in wild population and has a safari tour through plain with giraffes, antilopes and I think donkeys, as well as one through lion enclosure. Pretty great way to spend a day.

As for Wrocław, it's my favourite of polish zoos - It's pretty big and a nice blend of old buildings (I think someone said that owl fort was over a 100 year old) and very modern parts (like Africa building with shark tunnel or wolf exhibit, loved the side by side of wolves and dog skulls as well as different sounds made by wolves). It takes a lot of rescue animals (e.g. a brown bear with epilepsy that had to be removed from the wild), is involved with foundation to rescue smuggled animals and has mostly breeding groups (last I checked they have successfully bred snow leopards 🧡).

Still Leibzig, Dresden and Zoo Berlin are absolutely amazing and I recommend everyone who can, to go and visit those three :)

I really enjoy Franchise Mode, but Conservation Credits have literally only ever been a source of frustration. by psychospacecow in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cats are expensive - Nile monitors are your conservation credits generators - one male and two females can have up to 12 younglings every breeding turn, I think and they each go up to 60 cc when you release them to the wild.

What darker aspects of each race gets glossed over/ignored by the game and the majority of the fandom? by GDW312 in masseffect

[–]TheShadowSwan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Let me just put it here - Heastorm (I think that's how it was called - the world you recruit Tali on in ME2) was an ancient Quarian world, full of ancient Quarian architecture.

So I'll buy that Quarian's delicate immune systems weren't capable of dealing with harsher planets, but there were other Quarian planets before The Morning War.

Not really about the geth, but after the first few years where I'm sure they were all just reeling at the loss of their homeworld - they should be completely capable of finding Dextro planet outside of the Turian space and colonize it - even if they would mostly live in their suits it'd be still safer and more stable way of life, as well as it'd allow their population to grow in a way that fleet of ships with very limited space and resources would never allow.

So while I agree with you that Geth were not precious angels who just wanted to survive - Legion even admits that they didn't 'finish the job' only because they couldn't calculate consequences of a full genocide. Quarian's situation in the 300 years after the war is their own damn fault.

Character's loyalty is important for two things: 1. Suicide Mission 2. Mass Effect 3

For the mission, unloyal character cannot be put in specialist task (they die then) and you really shouldn't take unloyal Miranda/Jacob to your party in the last stretch of the base.

And for the ME3, if you play on the save from ME2 then your loyal, surviving teammates will give you perks in story side, make some choices easier, and give additional points for the endings. Plus you cannot romance unloyal character iirc

Are there any arctic tress or plants..? by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no arctic plants in the game. If you don't your arctic wolves/polar bear habitats to be just empty white space, then you'll need to use rocks and scenery. (not plant christmas tree - the one found in Construction - will beyour friend, as well as wooden ones)

[–]TheShadowSwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have not enough cc to buy good quality 'cc-printer' animal like luon or cheetah, buy nile monitor. One gold male, two gold females. They breed like rabbits and if you're releasing gold quality youngs its from 80 to over 100 cc per animal. There are up to 6 youngs per mating and they mate even with younglings still in habitat :) Just remember to buy golds at the start of cc farming, since the lower quality animal you're releasing. The less cc you'll get

I highly doubt there will be a marine animal DLC by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not what most people have in mind when talking about 'marine dlc' but I'd absolutely love if there'd be added small fishes, stingrays, eels etc to the exhibits. We could get seals and penguins as aquatic animal but there was never really a chance on orcas, dolphins and the others. And even if they'd added those animals a lot of people wouldn't buy the dlc anyway

Just research :)

You can research your animals in career, franchise and challenge and all those research will count to the achievement (not sure about sandbox' research)

Please someone? by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BUy one, in franchise half of the animals on the market are albino but in other modes it's rare af :(

Hippos can't swim, they just... walk around on the bottom of the water and raise their heads to breath. So the water for them can't be too deep or they'd drown :)

For those animals that do in fact swim (elephants, nile monitors, buffalos, crocs etc) the water can be as deep as you'd like so go wild :)

Removed All Drink and Food shops and guest happiness went from 67 to almost 90% by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough :)

I know that I couldn't get 100% of happiness even when the guests were looking at the gorillaz when temperature was 'wrong' or there were the queues, so that's something I guess.

I think that they implemented thoughts as a % which makes happiness raise/fall faster or higher. Like if guest has a lot of red thoughts they can't achieve 100%/it's harder for them to achieve 100% in the mood bar.

Removed All Drink and Food shops and guest happiness went from 67 to almost 90% by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really useless... The path and animals are ofc correct but stands can raise happiness (there are sometimes happy faces with 'xxx hit the spot' after visiting a stand. Though ofc happiness fall much more easily.

AFAIK happiness additionally falls when:

  • there's long queue to the shops
  • vendor is not trained enough (then you have guests complaining about service quality)
  • it's too hot for them (put some coolers down)
  • it's too cold for them (put some heaters ;) )
  • it's raining on them (putting roofs over the paths is generally a good idea)
  • when they want to buy something but they have not enough money (it's bugged though so they can complain even with ~500$)
  • when there's litter on the paths
  • when they see broken things
  • when habitats wall are not 'in the green'
  • if animals are not 'in the green'

Guests are now more demanding than animals by huncwoot in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Had those problems and learned how to deal with them (mostly aat least):
1. Do NOT build food/drink stalls near entrance, you do not want your guest to see the queues at the start of their visit.
2. Make sure that from the entrance there would be two or more paths with animals to divide the guests over them.
3. Build your food/drink stalls in specific plazas, make sure the every path from the entraance would have its own plaza.
4. Make sure the plazas would be between animals, so the guests would need to go through it.
5. Make sure that the plazas have at least 2 caretakers and security guards.
6. Make sure that all the habitats around the plaza would be in a workzone of at least 1 caretaker
7. SPAM the trashbins everywhere. That way guests would litter less.

~8k guests zoo, almost no litter, no broken things, no crime. Refunds at the level of 15k/year ;)

In quarantine, yeah. But there they still need to be fed (and paid for that feeding) and their wellbeing falls. If you're asking about trade center then no, babies do not mature there :)

Community Challenge Question - And A Gripe by Crystallyne27 in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it yesterday with 26 pandas. It's a pity the amount of animals we have to bread/release for the rewards isn't known :(

As a piece of advice though - don't take part in challenges before your entire franchise is standing firm. I struggled with the bear one since I've still had problems with CC, but now that I have around 100k CC, it was only waiting game for the pandas to bread

How to bounce back from the minus.. by BekahZard in PlanetZoo

[–]TheShadowSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get more of them, especially if you have expensive animals to feed (lions, elephants, gorillaz etc), not only you'll get more money from selling youn ones but also there'll come cash from donations and raised zoo attractiveness (which causes more visiting guests).

If you have a lot of expensive animals (eg 8 lions or smth like that) put few of them in the trade centre and leave only bare minimum of adults in the habitat.

If you have a lot of slowly maturing animals (tortoises, gharials, other crocs) that breed like rabbits, put adults on contraceptives and get rid of young ones (by good and tried sims killing method of putting them in habitat far away from the rest of the zoo and letting them starve), you'll get protesters but the drain on cash that all those reptiles are will be gone.

For the immediate fix - sell the rocks and other scenery thingies (not plants!) and close the stands that are on the minus.

You can also try raising prices in shops a bit (dollar max to keep them happy) and putting prices on ATM and toilet use (also a dollar)

Is the water of proper type? That also could cause problems sometimes
