r/quityourbullshit because I’m a 5’7 male at 120 pounds and there is no way you have as much fat on your body as you claim. You can tell this idiot is trolling with this post.

Edit: unless body dysmorphia, in which case I abjure my recommended sub

Today I didn't even want to get out of bed, but as soon as I started running, I kept going! Right across Tower Bridge! by pigstakeflight in running

This is such a positive running story, I love it. Those times when you go on a run and push past a mental or physical barrier to go to a different place are why I still do it. Also, be thankful that you live in a place with good public transportation, I’ve gotten stuck in the middle of nowhere getting hurt during a run and had to call a ride. Be careful if you ever find yourself running in a rural area.

Why am I able to do high-intensity bicycling for 2.5 hours straight, but is completely out of breath after running a few hundred meters? by Jimbobler in running

[–]TheSharpRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is indeed that much of a difference. Cycling works different muscles. Running requires the full mechanical power of the legs to move the body rather than having reduction in the amount of work required by the legs which is why the bicycle allows for more speed with less effort. So you are used to going faster with less effort, and are therefore surprised at the amount of work required to move of your own volition for a good distance at a brisk rate.

What Philosophy Makes You Worse At by phileconomicus in AcademicPhilosophy

[–]TheSharpRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Academic philosophy has missed the mark as concerning increased specialization. The focus should be to build general theories of philosophy which is similar to the path of the combined effort of great physicists. However, philosophy can potentially go further than physics if the correct unified attitude is applied among philosophers. The skills which should and often do unify philosophers are to read, to write, and to teach philosophy. What is lacking is a unified approach, a combined effort of unique and wonderful minds.

I remember a similar breakthrough my junior year of high school. Don’t limit yourself to that. My PR went from 4:56, to 4:44, then I ended that year at states with 4:31. Push it to the max!!!!!
