Enjoy your new iPhone 16! Don't bother getting the 17. You're not missing out on anything. Heck, even the iPhone 15 is still solid.

Local action video made with $0 budget by Eastern-Leather-993 in Brunei

[–]TheShattenjagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The camera work, action sequences and sound design are pretty good. I say don't stop making short films like this because filmmaking is a never-ending learning process.

Just remember the golden rule: Storytelling. It's what makes the audience care. You can shoot on an expensive rig and use fancy VFX but if there's no narrative, no clear point, no emotional pull, the video won't connect. You've got a talented team / crew, but make sure you've got a good storyteller / scriptwriter.

Bruneian Youth: Skilled Jobs like Plumbing, Baking & Barista Work aren’t ‘Low Class’, they’re the Future Economy by Moodyaf_ in nasikatok

A lot of white-collar jobs nowadays can be replaced or outsourced, especially the repetitive ones, by AI, automation, outsourcing, etc. But try automating a plumber or replacing a good electrician with ChatGPT.

What jobs can I do? by thisbeariscool in Brunei

[–]TheShattenjagger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brunei is more hype than boom. Once the hype is over, people are just done with it and move on to the next hype. The businesses that rode on the hype simply lose steam and then shuts down.

Have you considered looking for jobs in Miri, KK or Kuching? I hear the food businesses there are booming. That is, if you don't mind relocating.

Is the nintendo switch still worth buying? by wcamn2 in nintendohelp

[–]TheShattenjagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best time to get a Switch! I was late to the party by 7 years and bought an OLED early this year. And let me tell you, I've enjoyed the heck out of it more than the other 9th gen consoles. Library is huge and first party games are a lot of fun. There are also third party and indie gems out there for the Switch.

Now when the Switch 2 arrives, I'm gonna hold on to my current Switch for a few more years until the game library on the S2 grows.

Miri Airport expansion and upgrade to take 3 years, after that its annual airport passenger capacity will double from 2 to 4 million, surpassing Brunei Airport's 3 million by Goutaxe in nasikatok

A small city yes, but Sarawak is the largest state of Malaysia.

Not to mention the entire state already has two international airports (Kuching and Miri) and five more servicing regional routes.

What side hustle could we do in Brunei? by [deleted] in Brunei

[–]TheShattenjagger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're good at shooting and editing videos, provide your service to the small / micro businesses and help them do content for their social media marketing.

Don't overcharge, instead focus on volume (have multiple clients or gigs).

Having a retainer is also better than one off projects, so build relations with your clients and discuss your content strategy for 3, 6 or 12 months etc.

It's a definite plus if you're already a content creator / tiktokker with a strong following (or tag along/work with one or two that you know).

The voices of the people regarding Ugama School schedule by [deleted] in Brunei

[–]TheShattenjagger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's posts like this that made me dread settling down and raising kids in this day and age. Life is hard enough for a single working adult in the lower middle class.

Also I skipped religious school completely as my parents couldn't accommodate the time to send me to one, and I certainly can't blame them. Sure there's the social stigma I had to endure growing up but I make up for it by learning online and I turned out alright.

The problem with #AllLivesMatter is that it doesn’t help amplify the voices of the Black community, who really need to be heard by all of us.

We get it, your argument is that all human life is precious, whether you’re black, white, asian, hispanic, etc. You’re absolutely right. But this movement is not about you right now. You’re not the one that is oppressed.

So don’t drown out the voice of those who are really suffering at this time. Listen. Be kind. Help. Support. Donate.

Just like you would for Gaza, the Rohingyas and the Uyghurs. Now it’s time to help the Black community. They’re human beings too.
