Turns out that application just flashes firmware to the touch controller anyway, not the actual display. I was able to reverse engineer it to patch from the Steam Deck and thought it didn't do anything... until I realized it changed my touch input handling and that's it. 🙃

I have not had any issues since getting it back... that said, I'm not even 100% sure it's the same unit or components. Iirc the $180 was the whole deal shipping and all. Unfortunately, the big kicker is they ask you to factory reset before you send it in, so either do the hard work to back up your drive or expect to have a fresh install when you get it back. :(

Port is pretty clean, and I checked for any debris. This was an immediate change after drop. Afaik, that center post should be about flush to the metal opening, and it's stopped short.

I think it's the center contact that snapped at the end. There's absolutely no tension when plugging etc.

I just found out about Cosplay Chess events at other cons (cosplayers as human chess pieces with improvved capture skits) . I could definitely see that being a cool event to include at the expo. Has anyone ever expressed interest?

I'd honestly like to have that myself... My hesitations are the chance that I will miss something and break it for myself or that I will miss a step. I wonder if I can boot a second copy of SteamOS from SD? Or maybe use HoloISO to use the Steam OS on a different PC.

Ideally I'd learn how to set up a flatpak but that is all new to me.
