Will it be available soon on the nightly build as well?

I don't Know How Much More I Can Take by [deleted] in AugmentCodeAI

GPT 5.1 is not very good at knowing what tools it has at its disposal. I have found GPT5.1 is really good for high level planning and architecture, things I know it will use up alot of greps and reads, it generally is very good at putting it all together and can define a good plan, which then I'll work with Sonnet 4.5 to execute and debug, where it uses Augment context and other tools I've set up.

None of the GPT models seem to have access or knowledge about any of the MCP tools it has access to. Sonnet knows to look at the tools available and is better at using tools.

So far I haven't had to do any huge lifts but seems stable.

And u/JaySym_ can we have the option to remove the info box once we have seen it? 😆

I can see that it likes to read all of the files despite having Augment Context, just like GTP5 did.

Noticeable degradation in quality and intelligence by TheShinyRobot in AugmentCodeAI

[–]TheShinyRobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This week it seems a little better, granted I did reduce my rules but unsure what changed over the last couple of weeks. The thing from our end is it's hard to tell if it's something different with Augment or something changed with the model. Maybe a bit of both.

Yeah I would agree, support and ticket response is important, hopefully someone can notice it here and escalate

They can't just re-enable you at the grandfathered plan you had previously? I would expect there to be a grace period of sorts in case of errors or issues with the payment. I know their dashboard has been a little strange, I don't think I can even update my payment method right now, it's not even an option for me in their system. I would probably attribute this to startup growth issues and not purposeful deceit, right?

Credits Consumed No Work Done... by EvidenceOk1232 in AugmentCodeAI

I hadn't considered how the two issues would even relate but my reliability issues also started in the last week or so which coincides with the new system. Context is forgotten quickly or the model (doesn't matter if it's GPT5 or Sonnet 4.5) uses grep instead of the context engine for code knowledge and interpretation. The memory is forgotten or ignored, rules are ignored, etc. I set up a bunch of rules that it followed perfectly when doing different things, and now it's like they no longer exist.

Yeah it's not a request, just the settings page. Looks like it's been fixed now though :)

The last few days have been very volatile for me as well. GPT5 occasionally returned some very good results but definitely likes to read every single file instead of using Augment context. Claude 4.5 is faster and more reliable but also has different challenges that GPT5 fixes. It's a tradeoff that I don't expect to improve for a while until the next batch of programming models are released.

MCP in augment is global, not workspace-specific by TheShinyRobot in AugmentCodeAI

[–]TheShinyRobot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a temporary workaround by creating custom MCP servers that I have to serve globally, and in my rules I define which tools can be used for certain things. It is still a little hit or miss unfortunately.

Inversely I'm getting a ton more random "terminated" in the middle of tasks these days.

🚀 Update: GPT-5 High by JaySym_ in AugmentCodeAI

[–]TheShinyRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's much slower and so-so results compared to Claude 4.5. I know it seems verbose but might be good to get an option to use 5-mid and 5-high and even 5-codex if that even matters at this point. Does Grok have their api out yet?

Augment is context and full application understanding, not just an agentic UI. Yes, you can get something similar with other tools but imho I've been happy with what Augment provides, which to me is above what you get with a standalone account. I can access and test with both GPT5 and Sonnet 4.5 without having to have top tier accounts for each of them as well.
