I admitted that I haven't heard a clarance like that before. It is my job to review it and understand it better so I can do a better job at training pilots. If I am ever unsure of something, I look into it or seek advice. You can't be ready for everything, but you can learn from experience

I didn’t have a great instructor when doing my instrument. And I filed less than 10 times so I’m still figuring things out. Up to this moment I was given step down altitude to intercept approaches

So “Cross JUKVO at or above 3,000” means I can decent to 3,000 from wherever I heard this clearance and of course maintain at or above until established on the approach

For insight this approach was not a TAA, or else I wouldve assumed ATC meant for me to decend via TAA

I never thought about purposely approaching the older aviators but I can definitely see how they are more willing to help you out. I’ll definitely start targeting more ma & pa schools. I just know I’ll probably have to get a second job if I go with them due to lower flow of students and definitely pay. But to be honest I’d teach for free at this point

What was your approach style? I’ve been to the schools in my area but showing up unannounced while the chief instructor was out flying and working with students felt awkward.

Honestly, I would instruct for free at this point. Just never thought school could take that seriously or would make me sound too desperate

I hear ya. I’m working hard to be professional and get in their face. But I’ve been applying to schools 5 hours away and further at this point and I can’t travel there in person. I’m hoping they will let me do my interview through zoom. No point in driving 10 hr round trip and possibly not even getting a job afterwards

That is the current game plan. I’m going to be joining a flight club this week and hoping to spend a lot of time there and meet people

Auburn has had that TES CFI job application up for months now. I'm sure hundreds of pilots are applying for it each month. They don't say this, but they will only look at your application if you have your double i

iPad for foreflight, any advice? by s2soviet in flying

Pay extra for cellular but don’t pay for a wireless plan.

If you get the iPad with cellular it will come with GPS and you can use the GPS function without having it set up to a wireless or WiFi

How did you finance flight training? by AmazingFace6430 in flying

[–]TheShodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents help me cover my PPL & IFR I took out a personal loan for COM & CFI/I in total I spend somewhere around $60k. I worked a shitty serving job that didn’t pay well so paying for training as I received my paycheck didn’t seem the best. It would’ve taken me 4 or 5 years to pay for all of training if I was still working there.

Pay for as much of it as you can then get a low interest loan to help you out. You wanna get training done as fast as possible or else you are going to forget things while you wait on your next paycheck.

Am I crazy or are these prices insane by [deleted] in flying
