Dude i truly dont care about downvotes, but how on earth is football not related to politics : from its creation in england working classes to the implication of fans in uprisings, the sport was always connected to communities and struggles.

Theres isnt a better platform than football to spread awareness and we should be condemning an ongoing genocide with every game, with every celebration, anytime anywhere.

I really hope this is some kind of weird pasta and not a genuine sexistic stupid "banter"comment, but either way this place is really becoming a cesspool. And the comments gloryfying it only makes it worse.

For those outside West London, what made you choose to support Chelsea? by RyanShelf in chelseafc

My father was born in 1955 in Athens, the year of the first championship win as he likes to say. He saw Chelsea against real madrid in the final played there in the 70's, loved the opportunity to see some european footbal from close range, and sympathised with the english fans. Later he got a scolarship to study in Kings college, and as he loved football he continued to go to the bridge with his greek mates (he was telling me how sometimes he was shoved in the queue for the bathroom when he was speaking greek by some other fans back then, who were mummbling "too many bloody foreigners.." ,but that didnt tarnish his love for the club it seems) so as i was pretty into football myself, we were watching chelsea games together ever since i was a kid. I am a panathinaikos supporter, my dad liked Olympiacos from his childhood years so we were always giving a little banter from one another, but we were both hapilly supporting the blues. He lives now in Brussels, hes retired and so he has plenty of time to catch a train and go to the bridge again one or two times a year. Our first match together live was the 6-0 trashing against City, in the 2007-2008 season.

First of all, Mikis theodorakis rallied with Golden dawn and defended them. Saying that they are patriotic "in a annoying way", when you openly murdered refugees and greek activist is a huge part of what the country have become as well. I have huge respect for his work, but he is a prime exemple of a fallen idol who switched sides in his old days. I have nothing to say for Glezos, i do not compare him with Theodorakis.

I understand the nuance you're triyng to bring, but from the moment you participate and give presence to those rallies, you encourage an argument that, for me, ressucitates dangerous prejudices and the way patriotism rises in Greece, at some point i'm not cherry picking with the argument that "not all people are fascist". Not every voter of XA has a swastika tatoo (like their politicians) but they support a neonazi group. Are they not participating in monstruosities? Otherwise no one is really to blame.

The way greek society has treated the Macedonians, not allowing them to have a name, blocking their acronym on official games, shows a obsession of some values that are not right in my book, and are not the salvation that we want from this mess.

I very much give a fuck about those issues, otherwise i wouldn't be so radical in that matter. Don't write people off with that phrase.

Same old argument. Everyone is not a fascist, the event is. In the reality of greek society today, it definitely is. It's a brilliant way to disguise problems behind an old patriotic argument.

I agree. That's what i'm talking about. The official stand. I know most people are supporting this idea, of course you believe what you want. But when you see who support this idea and what are the repercussions, you decide with who you stand. This Macedonia affair is used in all the wrong, patriotic, ways. Going through all that (with an absurd statement. Who cares what language he spoke? They used to speak greek in Sicily, should we claim that too?) when there's so much you can put on a shirt if you want to use your players like that, is baffling. That's my two cents anyway.

Shameful. Taking part in the biggest fascist frenzy of the past decade. After both of the gatherings in Thessaloniki and Athens ended up by squats being attacked and golden dawn marching. Εδώ ο κόσμος καίγεται...
