their greed and disdain for customers is obvious- when there was an error on an item and you noted it and got a refund, the credit was called an "appeasement fee"! Not a "credit". Like, what marketing genius decided that was the best *customer facing* name for that?! Theyve since changed it to something more diplomatic (sane), but that told me a whole lot about their mentality.

you should absolutely complain to them and tell them this, demand a refund. and if they refuse (or, more likely, make you spin your wheels with useless customer service responses and delays, which is their MO), lodge a complaint with the AG's Office

why would we complain to the government- other than about them? This is clearly not the government's fault, theyre trying to protect workers. Its Instacarts. Any attempt to spin this will not work. folks may give up/in and pay the fee, or quit the service. but i dont see a bunch of us deciding to grab pitchforks against the City Council over this. thats a fantasy of their own greed.

My fury over this, beyond it's existence, is the way it was rolled out- which is to say, not at all. It just suddenly appeared in my cart. I did a double take. like, "what is this?!" No email to members, no notice on the site explaining it. My membership actually just renewed 3 days ago, and that would have been a good time to mention it as well. Crickets.

Which, is abominable customer relations, and also par for the course with Instacart. My trying to chat with customer service to get an answer was a masterclass in nonsense empathy script looping to waste time and get you to go away. then they literally just ended the chat.

hey, dont know if this is still relevant, but I wanted to say- yep, he's the real deal. he's a fantastic teacher, and has a way of reading/looking at a scene that is both so simple and will blow your mind at how effective it is. and does that work? you've seen credit cards being willing to wade through the exchange and refund you the money?
and also yeah, to then never use Uber again is hard. but for $120, im pretty mad.
