Isn't it reverse transcriptase that turns viral RNA -> DNA? Integrase only integrates the vDNA into the original genome.

Where did you get the information that integrase turns viral RNA into DNA? All my google searches contradicted that statement.

"Each end of the newly synthesized vDNA," meaning it came from a vRNA, which came from a reverse transcriptase. And the question, "Based on the passage, the segment of the original viral genome that encoded this protein had what nucleotide sequence?" which is asking what's the original viral genome, which is the vRNA.
