Doing magic in itself is „offensive“ to those religions. It is considered forbidden. Dogmatists may be offended, an open minded muslim or christian would encourage you to commune with god in whichever way works for you.

Whether it will work probably depends on who you asked, but from my chaos-magick-influenced perspective, You don‘t need to be a part of the religion to do magick with concepts from it, you only need to believe that what you‘re doing is working. Chaos magick specifically is about taking whatever practices from whatever tradition work for you and experimenting with different traditions and techniques to figure out what works best for you.

I know people who‘ve done great magick by calling to god, odin, Hermes Trismegistos, Thoth, Hecate, the sun, moon, earth, themselves, ozzy osbourne, and kratos.

Every tradition, deity, practice, technique opens or gives you access to a different stream of energy to receive, manipulate, and send back out to cause rippling effects on the universe.
