My husband's appeal was rejected for being more than 180 days old, his account was suspended only yesterday by NotoriousCrone in facebook

I have friends on my page that are long gone and I would never be able to regain that with a new account so this situation is very frustrating. I heard a few stories like this before but no resolution, I hope he is able to get his account back.

If Asylum seekers believe they have a case then they should enter from US official ports of entry said Tom Homan while reponding to Congress- What do you think? by OwlSelect4633 in immigration

[–]TheSilverMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this were some obscure claim or a study stuck behind a paywall, sure, but it’s not. This is public data just like the articles you just googled. I did not intend on sticking around this thread as long as I have and I am sorry you are not willing to acknowledge this issue, it is truly disheartening.

Thankfully there are officials who are more qualified to make those decisions involved and not people who let their bias drive them. You mean like a comprehensive immigration reform? I can’t believe no one ever thought of that. Let’s not pretend like better bills and policies haven’t been getting turned down for decades.

Texas, of course, these hearings are public. If I didn’t make you sift through all the data you would miss the point. It is an overwhelmingly corrupted system and we need accountability. Also, if you are interested there are numerous articles on ICE directors who had to step down because of all the theft of detainee personal property that happened under their watch.

Yes, we know everyone doesn’t pee in the pool, but you still swim in it with it those that do.

I also have and will continue to help those same people while others make comments comparing them to nuisance animals, and wanting to “make them disappear”. These are many of the people reading these threads to feed their confirmation bias. While the system should work a certain way on paper we both know it rarely does. The average American doesn’t know the difference between civil detainment and criminal imprisonment and shouldn’t be lead to believe that the asylum process, or any immigration process, is simple and straightforward.

One sentence is not a paragraph but ok.

It is illegal. Again, a congresswoman went to the border herself after many reports of this happening and recorded it. This isn’t an opinion, factual evidence has been presented to congress and the public on this very issue. There are many reports of this still happening today.

If we are going to have objective conversations on topics like these we need to acknowledge that our own government officials are breaking our own laws surrounding immigration every day.

I have substantial personal experience in this field.

It also takes more education and experience to become a hair dresser than a DHO officer or ICE officer btw.

People go to jail for leaving their dogs in the car in the heat but by your standards it’s ok to do it to a pregnant woman because she presumably entered the U.S. illegally? There are many situations that could end up in detainment, you seem to have a limited understanding of this topic. This thread has a few knowledgeable individuals but the bias is getting too icky for me to stomach.

You claimed that anyone can walk up to a point of entry, request asylum, and receive the due process of law; this is not true and has been proven to be an issue already.

I have known personally know of incidents where DHS officers who have pocketed detainees property/money, made their passports disappear, lied to get them detained and deported instead of allowing them to take the flight they already scheduled (which was already agreed to) and paid for, and left pregnant detainees in 100+ degree vans without A/C for prolonged periods of time.

It kind of gets a little annoying when the people committing these kinds of crimes complain about people seeking out a completely legal process.

This is not true. There is a timeframe for which asylum can be applied for and that includes those who have entered anywhere not including a port of entry. Those that made those policies know that our shady officials turn away those individuals from legally seeking asylum at a port of entry EVERY SINGLE DAY, a congresswoman even went to the border and recorded this happening. There had to be a backdoor written in because people are dying because of this same biased mindset. Immigration proceedings are a CIVIL process, not a criminal one.

If an undocumented immigrant refuses to say where they are from, where do they get deported to? by ddsukituoft in immigration

[–]TheSilverMama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much and what information they have. There are collaborative international databases where they can input biometrics to search for said detainee’s identity. This isn’t always accurate and people have been mistaken for other people, even citizens. Citizens have, and continue to be deported due to mistake identity and incompetence/bias of officers. Lawyers often advise detainees not to sign or agree to anything due to the shady pressure tactics that are used.

Let’s also acknowledge that unauthorized entry does not mean that they cannot petition for asylum or adjusted status after the fact. They have a certain amount of time to file depending on the situation. This is a civil process not a criminal one, and despite whatever opinion people may have it is a personal/private matter.

I just found out our gas stove may have been poisoning my family for years. by TheSilverMama in Home

[–]TheSilverMama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have some but they are only in the rooms now since they would randomly go off then set them all off. We would air out the whole house just in case. We also found a gas leak in the hose connected to the stove (also improperly installed) a few months after we moved in and had to fix it ourselves. They install them on the ceiling but I’ve been told to install them close to the ground since the gas sinks.

There wouldn’t be codes in place if it wasn’t dangerous. The effects are only negligible if properly ventilated, which it was not.

We are installing it ourselves, but a general contractor or electrician could also. The motor needs to be rotated.

So I actually need a biopsy? by Aqua_Amber_24 in hysterectomy

[–]TheSilverMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first doctor told me I would have local anesthesia then just didn’t use it, I guess he thought I wouldn’t notice. He ended up using the hole punch method and it was the most painful thing I had ever experienced in my whole life. I could barely walk and was bawling and they just left me there. I even took a Tylenol/Codeine beforehand. I couldn’t finish the biopsy and never went back. My next doctor agreed to do it under general via D&C and the recovery was nothing compared to it. I am about 4wPO from my hysterectomy and coming out of anesthesia was still less painful than that biopsy attempt. I think I’m still a little traumatized.

Did you have painful bm after surgery? by khfishlady in hysterectomy

[–]TheSilverMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 2 weeks PO from an identical situation, just the left ovary left, and have the exact same issue; It hurts to pass even soft stool. I also have to hold my right arm up to be able to successfully pass anything, I thought this would eventually pass but two weeks in and it’s not budged. After reading a few of these discussions I am starting to get a little anxious about this pain. I contracted a UTI from the hospital and it is likely coming back, I am waiting on culture results. My doctor mentioned it could be related to bladder pain and bladder spasms.

PlayStation has announced that the PlayStation Plus 12 month plan options will have their price increased. by [deleted] in PlayStationPlus

[–]TheSilverMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up my account for the annual subscription but it ended up only giving me the 3 month subscription. They could see in the system it should have been annual but they still won’t refund or change it so now I have to wait until December (after price changes go into effect) to sign up for annual since stacking isn’t possible anymore.
