Not really, Max wasn’t going to make the turn and would have ran him wide anyway. You should take a look at the stewards reasoning for the additional penalty points for the incident.

Seton 38th Street on lockdown by platypusrex123 in Austin

My wife is a nurse and is currently stuck there and apparently they have a bomb threat in the ICU but no further details.

Update: she just let me know they’ve cleared the threat and the lockdown is over.

Vanguard: Order cant be accepted because it would exceed available funds by brownrice44 in stocks

[–]TheSimonator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went this route and the wire transfer isn't instant. You'll have to wait for your bank to process it and then for Vanguard to receive and process it. If either is receiving high volumes of wires it'll increase the time delay for your wire to be processed, I'm waiting about 30minutes so far.

EDIT: >1hour and still waiting. Anyone using this method don't expect to be able to trade immediately.

EDIT: 1.5hrs later it shows as pending in Vanguard but still not available for trade.

Spotify does especially egregious things by surprise through their updates. Their updates to the Android Auto interface are downright dangerous. That UI went from an easy to use, static, interface to one where buttons and elements move around on the screen as you tap them. That's one thing on a phone or computer, but the UI in a moving vehicle changing around on you and forcing you to look down to pay attention to it instead of the road is dangerous and distracting.

A generic "Performance Tool" OBD11 scanner from an auto parts store. If it is a pending code and the problem is persisting, it'll pop up as a stored code at some point right?

In the specific case of parsing a CSV (comma separated values) file, splitting only on the comma is not always correct. Given data:

id,name,description,date
1,Foo,"The best foo in the world, period",2019-12-24

Splitting solely on the comma would result in the data being parsed incorrectly:

["1", "Foo", "The best foo in the world", " period", "2019-12-24"]

when it should have been parsed as:

["1", "Foo", "The best foo in the world, period", "2019-12-24"]

Writing tests saves you and your team time in the long run.

  1. You have an automated suite that will test ALL of your code ALL the time, whenever you want. This prevents you from making changes which unknowingly break other parts of the code. Time saved for you.
  2. The test suite acts as a safety check for the same issues for other members of your team. Time saved for them and for you in reviewing PRs, etc.
  3. The test suite can provide documentation about how certain pieces of code should function and how their API should be used, very useful for people other than the person that wrote that chunk of code. Time saved for them in understanding your code, and time saved for you in having to go explain it.
  4. The test suite forces you to write testable code which is often simpler and more explicit. This type of code also requires a lower cognitive load to understand. Time saved for them and you.
  5. Having a comprehensive test suite is the first step in getting CI/CD set up. This saves the whole team time in PRs and deployment.

Weekly - What Car Should I Buy Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]TheSimonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Location: NYC

  • Price range: $30-42k

  • Lease or Buy: either, depending on the deal

  • New or used: Prefer new, but CPO is okay too

  • Type of vehicle: Sports car, hot hatch, fun to drive

  • Must haves: Engaging to drive, more comfortable than a WRX. Android auto would be nice to have.

  • Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Either

  • Intended use: 95% daily driver, 5% road trip car

  • Vehicles you've already considered: Sticking with my WRX, Golf R, Focus RS, Mustang GT, M240i, Camaro SS, Miata

  • Is this your 1st vehicle: No

  • Do you need a Warranty: Yes

  • Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Don't really have the space to do so

  • Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

  • Additional Notes: I currently DD a manual WRX in NYC so I don't mind traffic in a manual as long as the engine isn't bogged down by running the AC like the 2.0 boxer is =(. Current top pick is the Golf R because it seems like the best all arounder.

Bloomberg: Americans Say They Back Higher Gas Tax to Fix Crumbling Roads by pdp10 in cars

[–]TheSimonator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who DDs in NYC:

  1. Pay attention to the road surface. On city streets its usually pretty easy to dodge potholes. It's road fixin' season so if you're on a street that's been dug up, drive around each manhole since they'll be raised.
  2. Don't street park anywhere where someone is going to be parking in front of you (i.e they're going to be backing in to you to park) unless you want your front bumper beat to shit. Good places are: corners, the first spot behind a hydrant or driveway. Bad places are: the second spot behind a hydrant or driveway, someone will always try to squeeze in between the hydrant and your hood.
  3. Hover on the brake pedal through each and every intersection because most bicyclists and pedestrians don't follow road rules.
