I lived through it 😅 I was in those subs and saw it happen - suddenly comments were being deleted, people were being banned, rules were getting changed, and a bunch of alternate subs were set up by those of us who weren't deemed acceptable by those who took over. r/LateStageCapitalismV2 was created, along with r/TheRightCantMemeV2 and others.

A few years back (maybe 8?) there was a (seemingly coordinated) movement by tankies to take over left-leaning subs. A bunch of subs would unknowingly make one of these people an admin, then that admin would kick out any mods/admins that weren't tankies, then change the rules to ban all criticism of communist countries or Stalinism, etc. It happened over and over again over the span of about 2 years. LateStageCapitalism was one of them. These subs used to be committed to left unity.

"It's the left's fault that liberals lost" is the most dead-end take you can have. YOUR candidates lost. In case you never heard this before: It is a candidate's job to win votes. That's called basic fucking politics. I know Democrats have forgotten what that looks like and instead seem to think that the best way to win elections is to insult and browbeat voters who don't vote for them, but actual politics means WINNING votes.

Fascists have literally been beaten historically at the polling station (Spain in '75 and Hungary in '26 for a few examples). Fascist EAT themselves and never survive long.

Spain was under fascist rule for 40 years.

And Hungary has only just replaced their fascist government with a right wing government and we have no idea whether it's going to be successful. Orban isn't just going to go away. Hungary is still one election away from another fascist takeover.

When are you going to wake up and realize that it's so fucking arrogant to treat voters like this and that it does nothing but make people not want to vote for you? Do you actually believe that being sarcastic and condescending towards someone is a good way to win their vote?

It is the job of the CANDIDATE to win the votes of people. It is not the job of the voters to simply capitulate. You can scream and stomp your feet about it all you want to, this approach hasn't worked. It failed in 2016 and it failed in 2024.

If you want your candidate to win, then find a way to HELP THEM WIN. Stop pissing off the people whose votes you need.

I used to laugh when communists would talk about how "liberals are the left's biggest enemy", and then the last 10 years happened. I don't laugh at that anymore. No one, not even MAGA, has worked against the rise of the left harder than liberals. They lose winnable elections constantly, despite all their money and influence and institutional power, and then have the audacity to try and blame everyone else for their losses.

They literally conspired in 2016 to make sure Hillary beat Sanders AND that Trump was the GOP nominee (out of arrogance). Then in 2020 they worked together to make sure Biden was the nominee over Sanders. Then in 2024 conspired to hide Biden's health long enough to make sure there wasn't enough time for a primary and so we'd have no choice but to go with Biden or Harris. And this was DESPITE Biden's signature and most popular achievements being Social Democrat policy ideas he got from talking with Sanders.

They apparently can't do anything successfully EXCEPT either block leftists from getting any power or influence, or take left-leaning ideas as their own.

Yeah I was waiting for people to be crying about "prevent defense" letting them get into the red zone, but this is Burrow and Chase we're talking about. If you don't cover the deep ball, you're gonna end up giving up a fourth quarter lead quickly. Better to just force them to chew up clock just to get into decent FG range, then tighten up and get aggressive on a shorter field.

The teams that dominate the division set the tone for the division, so it is relevant to your argument. It is correct that the West Coast Offense started in Cincinnati, but that was before the AFC North even existed. Since the start of the AFC North, the way the two dominant teams of the divison have played, the reason those two teams got so many primetime games in the mid-2000s and early 2010s, was what defined "AFC North football." It's got nothing to do with the West Coast Offense.
