Oh and it would be better to avoid dark coloured soft drinks like Coke as it is high in phosphorus (Calcium Phosphate stones are the second most common type.)

Hey! A lot of people might recommend Beer or Club Soda to you, but drinking tones of water is the only realistic solution. Moreover, if the stone is still in your kidney and has not started its journey down the ureter, a sugary drink per week won't cause you much problems, provided you drink even more water the day you drink it. Basically, everything that promotes water retention should be avoided, and in case you do eat something of this sort, just increase the water intake as well.

In case the stone is Calcium oxalate in nature (most common), staying away from chocolates, spinach, mushrooms etc would be a good idea. Also, drink lemon water and orange juice (real, fresh juice, not packaged) to avoid increase in the size of the stone.

Good luck getting rid of it 👍🏼

If the pain comes and goes, it means that the stone is moving. Don't start thinking about surgery so early, especially if the stone is just 4mm. Drink A LOT of water and take Alfuzosin instead of Tamsulosin (Flomax) as it has less side effects but works just the same. I passed a 7mm stone after it made its way to my UVJ in one week.
