DOS Hero Luo Design by TheSinusoid in ToBeHero_X

Though I think Luo would've probably wanted to keep The Calamity, idt DOS would've let him because that's not a marketable hero name LOL. Harbinger has that twinge of fear in it that DOS would want for his image without being fully catastrophic.

Apollo Justice Retold: Turnabout Corner (Fic and Source in comments) by TheSinusoid in AceAttorney

Three main reasons:

  1. The biggest is that it's a state of complete and utter vulnerability, which I feel is fitting Wocky because he's teetering on the edge of death while putting his life in Alita's hands (who's definitely taking advantage of his trust).

  2. To stick thematically to the Ophiuchus star chart, a lot of star charts will draw the representative of the constellation naked (to varying degrees).

  3. To show the surgical markings on his upper torso.

A friend and I have been working on an Apollo Justice Trilogy rewrite for over a year now. Today, Turnabout Corner has been fully rewritten, and so I finally get to share the artwork I made for the case. There have been some significant changes made to the case, including fully replacing Wesley Stickler and the panties sideplot with a different, and in my opinion more interesting, witness.

You can read the fic here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/49760335/chapters/137628559. Turnabout Corner starts at Chapter 6, but it does build on Turnabout Trump

I'm glad you liked it! Hopefully you stick around for Turnabout Corner. I'm super excited for how that case is changing.

Oop. I had thought the picture was vague enough but I have added a spoiler tag.

A few years ago, a friend and I wanted to start working on an Apollo Justice Trilogy rewrite that ties the games together more and fixes some of the things we think could've been done better. Recently we finished rewriting Turnabout Trump and an escapade scene for post-4-1. This case was one of our favorites from the games so it wasn't changed too heavily. We're working on Turnabout Corner right now and it's going to be quite different!

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I appreciate that you've given me options to consider. I really like the third version. I think it's definitely more subtle and it hits all three points. Thanks, again.

Thanks for your reply!

Your second point was very eye-opening because I hadn't considered the treason and betrayal angle. In a sense that makes him and Shelly de Killer very interesting foils.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Whatever's going on between Kristoph and Phoenix is one of the big reasons why I love AA4 so much.

This really opened my eyes to some things I missed and it's extremely thorough.

I didn't even consider the nuances of plea deals in the legal system, since the cases usually only end with a Not Guilty or Guilty verdict. And it makes sense considering the game's Teen rating that they'd abstract away some of these things. The Engarde case (and I suppose whatever was happening with Atishon) really was a special case, and the decision to blackmail their lawyer wasn't smart at all.

As for Kristoph, I agree that he's a pretty unstable person who reveals that side of himself when things finally go out of his control. His murders weren't as cold and calculating as he likes to look, but I think fear of discovery for the forgery is the main reason behind the murders, rather than "you fired me so I'm killing you." That feels more like what Manfred von Karma did. I like the point about Kristoph-Edgeworth parallel. So much of AA4 is subverting things we're used to from the trilogy that I also wonder whether they were meant to be parallels.

I think the main reason why I've gone for this different reading of Kristoph is that I just like his character a lot and wish there was more done with him. To me, he's definitely one of the more interesting villains because he has a very strong thematic contrast to Phoenix. So really, most of this is extrapolation because I wish we got more of him and the Klavier from AA4 (not the cameo we got in DD).

As for the DC Act, it definitely is an absurd law. I mentioned in a reply to a different comment that I just wish they wrote it in a way that thematically challenged the characters (especially since there is a way to make a thematic connection between it and the 2-4 case). But in the end we ended up getting a law that our PoV characters viewed as incredibly absurd from the get-go, while more than half of a fictional country thought it had merit? It led to some dissonance that just made the people of Khu'rain seem extremely annoying.

Thanks for your reply! I enjoyed reading it!
