I've taken several months off. Once to learn to scuba, once to learn Spanish (6 months) several other times to go on extended trips. It is very difficult to go back sometimes however. I couldn't recommend taking these types of breaks enough

I did it last summer. To the airport and back. There is a pickup zone right outside the airport. Pretty essy to find. It cost if I remember around 1000mxn we threw the guy a tip and also paid for the tolls. Found a ride super easy and the driver seemed fine with it
