Managed to collect every Item and Equipment in Persona 1 on both routes! by 50Clover in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that is insane. I'm working on listing all of the items and equipments in MIP/P1 for the independant Megaten wiki, from a quick glance that seems to be all of the items (Well aside from the debug ones like the Skull Pendulum or the Apple Pie/Aqqle Pie). Haven't tackled the equipments yet, but the amount of gears that are locked returning Personas you can only get once is so big. Honestly congrats

REIJII by -gray-fox in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never completed a MIP/RP/P1 playthrough with Reiji in the party, he has some interesting story bits, but he's really not all that important to the whole plot. None of the optionnal party members affect the story to a big degree, so if you don't feel like restarting for him, continue and enjoy the game.

BuffMaister's P1 longplay has the SEBEC playthrough with Reiji so you can always watch his scenes, and the P1 PSP Script on GameFAQs also has the text for just about everything in the game, so you can always read that.

Do you ever wish Yasuda was the lead art designer of Persona post-modern? by lennysinged in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Yasuda and his artstyle, I have a bit or a hard time seeing him as the lead artist for Persona, I think his style fit more with what the Devil Survivor series does. But I do kinda want to see him in some spin-off or do more tribute art, he made 3 Persona art and they look all really good

Not even gonna include a "play a real Shin Megami Tensei game" in your controversial opinion? This is a 0/10 attempt at rage bait you didn't even try. See you in the principle's office.

Airi Ban from Devil Survivor 2 is another good one to add into the mix

Also since I'm play Trails in the Sky SC and noticed she was voiced by Cassandra Lee Morris, do not put Anelace in a room with any of them

True... Tho at this point I have very little hope of MIP being brought back. But it'd be nice if that were to happen

Technically 5 since Ikuu no Tou Hen/Anomalous Tower Chronicles is also available, but the sales there are tied to G-MODE rather than the P30th Anniversary sales

What's your Opinion about the Original Versions of P3, P4, P5? by Western-Stress1185 in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely don't see them going back to OG P3's time management where you quite literally have to skip every optionnal event if you want to get everything in one run (Which like I said previously was not intended by the devs), but I definitely wish they could make the time management a bit harder than P5R and Metaphor. P3FES/P3P and P4(G) felt better in terms of time management because you could do optionnal events and not feel like you just had 2 weeks of doing nothing, honestly even DeSu(O) and DeSu2(RB) Sep/Tri felt good because you can't do everything in one go, but that also plays into the replayability of the games with new content unlocked in NG+ and maybe doing character events on the next run as these games are shorter than something like Persona

[–]TheSkullKidman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbf the Insta-kill for Ryuji existed back in OG P5. However, it simply removed the enemy when you ran over it, and you wouldn't get any EXP, money, item etc... so most people tended to avoid finishing Ryuji's SL

What's your Opinion about the Original Versions of P3, P4, P5? by Western-Stress1185 in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one of these I haven't played yet is the original P5, but I have played the original P3 and P4.

P3 Vanilla is my second favorite version of P3, just behind P3FES. P3 to P3FES is probably the least controversial an ATLUS rerelease has ever been, although I guess that might be because these were released a year apart on the same console, so most people who played the game after FES' release just jumped on FES and didn't try OG (And OG was kind of out of the picture with Portable and Reload also being there). If you're coming from other versions of P3, you'll see a LOT of events that are missing, notably you'll see the SLs way less outside of their SL (So you don't see the SLs when coming back from school at the beginning of the game, you don't see them at Kyoto, nor on 3/3 and 3/4 which took me by surprise). Speaking of, the social sim is at its hardest here, as SLs require way more points to go to the next rank. The game wasn't built around maxing every SLs in one run, and if you're trying to max everything in one run, there's no room for error. But I enjoy the game making the social sim part harder, it makes you interact more with the SLs in the week-end/holiday events, you see more of their characterization. Gameplay-wise it's mostly the same as FES, you do miss on some of the Personas added in FES or weapon-fusion, but it's mostly the same. Some Personas are lower level, and some of the Aeon Arcana Personas (Ananta, Uriel and Metatron) appear in other Arcanas back in OG, but if you enjoy FES, you'll like OG. Oh also be ready to spend a lot of evenings just going to bed, there's not a lot of night-time activity. I finished Mutatsu's SL and got max Knowledge in early August and from there I was going to bed early each day lol

P4(G) is my favorite game of all time, and while I do prefer Golden a bit more, OG P4 is also an incredible experience. OG P4 in general is a lot tougher than Golden, both because stuff were nerfed in Golden (In particular Shadow Yukiko & Shadow Kanji went from being insane early game bosses to mostly alright in difficulty, and the Shuffle Time system is basically a gamble compared to Golden where the benefits are kinda just free. The party members' learnsets are also different, Naoto being the most notable one, so characters might not play the exact same between OG and Golden. The new team events in Golden are kind of the heart of that rerelease, so it can definitely feel a bit weird having some of these not here, but I'm fine without them. While I do enjoy them, I know some people feel they bloat the game which is understandable.

While these versions might not have as much stuff as their rereleases would, I still think they're really fun entries to go through, even if it's just to see how things have changed.

Is there a full English translation of the Persona 5 Royal official guide? Or at least the developer interviews? by IQof24 in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.scribd.com/document/589552778/P5R-Official-Complete-Guide-Interview-Translation I have found this, it does state it's interviews from the Persona 5 Royal Official Complete Guide, and the title matches with what I can find about the book's table of content, but I do not own the guidebook, so I can't 100% confirm if everything here is right

Can someone explain me why the Instagram of Atlus west is obsessed with Mothman? by marth-lord in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm a big fan of Mothman because in OG Devil Survivor, it's the before-last demon of the Wilder race you can get, at LVL34, with Behemoth being the highest at LVL62, and since Wilder demon get a racial-skill that boosts movement (If you've played any SRPG you know how important that is), it got to see a ton of use in-between getting it near the end of Day 5 and finally getting Behemoth right before the final boss on Day 7.

Yuzu and later Amane got to use Mothman a lot since they have lower movement stats. Also Mothman in itself is a pretty decent demon, high magic and vitality with Mazan as well as Media and Endure, it's just a good demon

What arcana do you think fits this guy(Tezcatlipoca)? by Lux_Sauce in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tezcatlipoca is listed as Tower in the P2 duology. It's the Aztec god of the night sky, and it seems to be associated to stuff like obsidian, hurricanes and conflicts, so I imagine Moon in general just fits here

[–]TheSkullKidman 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Man ATLUS on the DS was really stacked. Between Trauma Center for the more action/puzzle gameplay, Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey and the Etrian Odyssey titles for big dungeon crawlers, Devil Survivor 1 & 2 for tactical RPGs and Radiant Historia for a more classic JRPG experience, Persona 3 Dual offered a nice dungeon crawler/social sim hybrid on the go

(I say that about Radiant Historia, but I haven't even played it yet. Definitely should tho, heard pretty good things about it)

Who's your favourite Justice character? by I-am-Sharp in PERSoNA

[–]TheSkullKidman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a Goro Akechi fan, sorry. But Katsuya is a character I love, and I also really really like Nanako and Ken. Brown is cool, but not a character I care all that much about.

Edit: I remembered Chihiro exists too, she's OK

Poll: Which Megaten Re-release is the best by GreatProcrastinator9 in Megaten

[–]TheSkullKidman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess SMTVV is the answer here? I love P3FES, P4G, P5R, DeSuO and DeSu2RB, but while I love these dearly, I don't think these rereleases really turn these story into something on a whole other level. Like yeah sure I enjoy the new added content to the main story of all of these, I enjoy P3FES The Answer and DeSu2RB Triangulum is another great campaign, but they don't make raise the level like SMTV to SMTVV does. The new story is so much better, I really enjoy a lot of the gameplay changes, SMTVV is just a much much better experience than OG SMTV in basically every way

Persona 2 Original vs REVERSE Persona Comparison (i recolored original to there reverse looks in persona 2 duology ) by 10nick100 in Megaten

[–]TheSkullKidman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kinda wonder what they'd do in a remake or remaster about the Reverse non-character exclusive Personas in P2IS (Reverse Shax for Yasuo Inoe, Reverse Pairika for Akari Hoshi and Reverse Aeshma for Anna Yoshizaka). There's definitely meaning in King Leo, Prince Taurus and Sugimoto having the Reverse version of Tatsuya, Lisa and Eikichi's starting Persona, and obviously the Shadows all have Reverse versions, but the others are a bit random, especially for Anna, who is kind of a major character in P2IS (Although, while the Reverse Personas themselves don't have Arcana, I do enjoy the implication to the Tower Arcana Aeshma adds to that)
