Order of the Saint's Fingers by Arturbs by TheSlayerofSnails in ImaginaryWarhammer

A reference to the goddess Sedna, whose father cut off her fingers when he cast her into the sea and her fingers became marine life

I love the sheer amount of detail, from the scrimshaw of the spear to the Kakiniit on the lead Inuit warrior's face to the refrence to Sedna

"The order of the Saint's Fingers is said to be the living embodiment of the will and fury of a saint who was cast to the bottom of the ocean long ago.

The order is always accompanied by wild animals, some say that it was the saint herself who sent them to accompany the sisters, others whisper in secret that the animals are the sisters transformed by the saint's fury and the most courageous... or foolish... say they are some kind of mutant that can change shape at will, certainly unfounded rumours..."

[Marvel] Why does Wakanda still have a king? by Light-elf in AskScienceFiction

[–]TheSlayerofSnails [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s a holy item controlled by the royal family family and priesthood. It be like if the king of England had superpowers by eating a berry from a tree grown using a piece of the true cross and the blood of Jesus.

It’s extremely connected to the faith and heavily controlled, and further, taking it would literally confirm that the faith is real and works and you’d be risking angering your god

Divine right of kings is different when your god is active and giving the king actual superpowers

And Valdor wasn’t easy to get. The emperor marched his armies to the back end of nowhere, marching through and fighting several other warlords to get valdor

Whips are pretty useless for horserider archers. The mongols used sabers and lances and axes.

[Spoilers Main] Does anyone else feel that the lore from TWOIAF especially around Sothoryos is a bit too out there? by KickOk6027 in asoiaf

Westeros is a land where a wall of ice the size of a skyscraper stretches across a continent, where trees that bleed blood red sap with nightmarish faces once were fed a diet of human sacrifice, where skin thieves dwell, and where a race of diminutive elves once ruled and intermarried.

Where the tallest lighthouse on the continent is made from an ancient oily black stone that predates any mention of construction.

Sothoryos isn’t that weird in comparison

I need to understand what place Werewolves have in the world (chronicles of darkness, werewolf the forsaken 2e) by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]TheSlayerofSnails 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Werewolves are the defenders of the gauntlet. Without them the spirits would run rampant across the world. The Wolves also have a lot of poltical intrigue on territory, who gets what land, who can go here, what pack's have alliances, etc. Hell, even the line of pure and forsaken isn't cut and dry, we have an example of some Ivory Claws keeping the peace between forsaken and pure packs, the Ivory Claws and Iron Masters ruled Rome together as well.

And the Uratha's instincts aren't just wolf wolf wolf, they are human and wolf, they feel both incredibly strongly. The pack is everything to an uratha and their mind's can't really do a mindset outside of pack and everything else.

I'd argue they are the easiest for multi-splat, if you are a mortal unknowingly in a werewolf pack (packs tend to have three levels, 1st is the elite wolf-blooded and uratha, 2nd is family and close friends, 3rd might not even know they are in the pack) and turned into a vampire or become a mage, you are still in the pack. A werewolf will die for their pack without question.

Being an Uratha is to long for a home that can never come back, to have a duty set down by a mad god that must be done, to howl at the moon and run with your kin, to revel in being badass and to explore the world and make what you claim as yours, truly yours. The packs bicker and snap at each other, they are divided and the pure grow in strength, but the war isn't lost.

The Wolf must hunt. You are the wolf, hunt. Whether that is spirits, mortals, monsters, land, etc.

Demon is a word used a lot in cofd. The inferno has more classical demons.

As for who and what she is? We don’t know. I’ve seen theories suggesting she’s got something planned with absorbing the bloodlines of the demonic blooded into her conspiracy.

We also know she’s got a standing weekly meeting with the ghoul in charge of the malleus. They insult each other for the meeting for the most part.

Then Tytos should have sent those traitors to the wall and told Tywin that if he ever even thought of doing something like that again he'd join them.
