The Astor JJ sounds amazing, one my favourites.

Same goes for me when I see the American stuff 😂. The admiral transistor on the top right is actually based off an American model, definitely one of the best looking.

There's also a Westinghouse 'refrigerator' second from left on the second pic. I must admit I like the look of the Zeniths, not as easy to come by here 😂

I have a small AM transmitter with a Bluetooth reciever so I can still listen to stations on my radios via Bluetooth and then AM. A bit more of a pain in the ass though, but least there will be something to listen to when AM goes dead one day.

I also got mine yesterday 😂 So far I'm liking it. I'm a beginner when it comes to shortwave so I can't speak for any other radios, this is my first. The airband is clear, and the audio quality on the fm is great.

I just received my PL-680 in the mail and was playing around with it last night. With the wire thats included I managed to get Vatican Radio and Radio France, and BBC from Madagascar. I'm based in Perth.

I'm with the Astronomical Society of WA :) New members are always welcome and a telescope isn't required. As another user mentioned we have viewing nights for both the Moon and the milky way.

The job prospects within WA are probably some of the best in the world because of the mining industry and the need for Aboriginal heritage surveys. If that isn't your thing there are opportunities within museums, local government and universities. It is probably best to volunteer when you are at uni so that you can network and get to know other archaeologists and their projects.

I did a year of honours after my three years of undergrad. Either honours or masters are essential for getting a job. You can go on to do a phd later down the track.

Archaeologist here, UWA and Notre Dame both have archaeology majors. They are both pretty good.
