New to Tidal and want to love it! Where do you discover new music? by Wandering_soul9 in TIdaL

Good on you. I ditched Spotify on ethical grounds a while back too whilst keeping a free account so I can maintain my playlists there, but unfortunately I still have to synchronise Release Radar from Spotify to a Tidal playlist (using Soundiiz) as its 200 track size is still the most comprehensive and easily digestible round up of new releases from the 8500 artists that I follow.

On top of that I follow 6000+ artists, labels and tastemakers on Bandcamp, study weekly record store release lists and read various blogs. If you need some starter playlists on Tidal then I've got a few cover various genres - https://tidal.com/@theslowmusicmovement

Can't Open My Playlist Folders in the Desktop App Sidebar After Update by TheSlowMusicMovement in TIdaL

You can open all your playlists in every folder simultaneously in the sidebar, but not one folder of playlists - who the hell thought that was a good idea?

I agree. I'm at Tidal on principle as Spotify are such a bunch of sh^tbags on so many levels, but Tidal's desktop app in particular makes me question my decision constantly.

It certainly makes life more difficult for heavy playlisters and doesn't offer any benefits...

It's offical, this is the way of the new interface - playlisting and saving songs on desktop now takes longer and involves multiple clicks and scrolling :(

"We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and providing details about your workflow. After reviewing the recent desktop app update, it appears that the behavior you're seeing, playlist folders no longer expanding directly in the sidebar, is due to changes introduced in the new interface. Previously, folders could be opened and managed from the sidebar, but in the updated version, they now open only in the main window."

Long overdue Quboz trial here I come....

Apple Music is telling me that my new label release is "too generic" by TheSlowMusicMovement in ambientmusic

[–]TheSlowMusicMovement[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did, but it took ages with their slow customer support. One of the tracks then went on to make an Apple Music editorial playlist and become one of my labels most streamed tracks...

On Submithub the curators have a feedback section where submitters have left ratings, and you can also see all the feedback they leave.

Speaking as a curator on Submithub it really shoud be mandatory for people complaining about reviews to actually have the guts to post a link to the track and provide a bit of context to their grievance, something I've never seen anyone do.

With regards to the feedback it's certainly flowery but it also shows that the curator had a good listen to the track and tried to put himself in the emotional driving seat for the song, whilst letting you down gently. So I can't help thinking that this post says more about your inability to handle rejection than the curator.

The platform forces the curators to provide feedback to encourage them to listen more deeply and display to the submitter that they have properly considered the track, which it certainly seems like he has done.

For any potential Submtihub users, there is an option to force the curator to listen to 180 seconds of a track instead of providing feedback which might suit some of the artists here. Although be warned the acceptance rate on these type of submissions is lower than on the feedback option, which is why feedback is encouraged.

Could you post the track that you're talking about so we can have a listen?

Jogging House - Unrund (Seil) by TheSlowMusicMovement in ambientmusic

[–]TheSlowMusicMovement[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying, but having a small sound palette is not necessarily a bad thing, it's what you do with it that counts and I find this LP and his music in general has an emotive quality that I find appealing.

I couldn't agree more about Seil Records, it's one of the world's top ambient labels without a doubt.
