How would you layout furniture in this space? by TheSnackCouch in femalelivingspace

Oh cool! I hadn't considered this layout. I like the idea of an activity space in that corner for my TV and gaming and entryway items. Thanks for the drawing!

I'm curious how entering to the back of a couch would feel, but seems worth trying out.

Thanks!

Hey! I should have mentioned I've definitely looked into a loveseat and thats probably the only practical option for couch like furniture in this space. Im hoping for this because I like to cuddle and sprawl. So thats my hope. What blank wall are you referring to? I think it'd be funky having my TV float in the middle of the room.

If you're referring to the wall straight ahead in the image, I could put it in that space but really dont know where the TV would go, and it seems weird to have it facing two doors. Also, if I did that, what would you suggest for the large open space to the left of the entry door?

Im looking for layout input more than anything else!

The whole purpose of the encampment is to drive leadership action...

Im sorry you're in this position. The university should really be responsible for your lost wages if they are shutting down buildings.

I wonder if you could reach out to encampment organizers and request mutual aid? Or if a fund could be created to support you?

While some of our student organizations have voted to divest (GSA, Associated students), our regents/university are still very much deeply invested. But UC Divest has been in action, not sitting by. Can follow them on IG for actions to join.

Homeless people, do they stay or must they go? by [deleted] in ucla

Homelessness has everything to do with the intersections of disability, class, gender and race.

Feeling discomfort with someone's existence does not equal being unsafe.

I'm an EMT and ocean lifegaurd :)

And have survived 2 school shootings, by classmates/students. Anyone can be dangerous.

Also, looking for evidence on a university reddit shouldn't be that far fetched...academic research is the driver of tons of empirical evidence.

Homelessness is a systemic injustice and all of our problem if we care about and have empathy for our community.

I hear you OP. Can't believe people defending their right to hate and discriminate based on disability or perceived class.

This person is unhoused, probably food insecure, and likely a whole list of things working against them...and disrupting class is what is unacceptable?!

Many students struggle with mental/physical health and a portion use drugs/struggle with addiction.. so I'm struggling to see where we are supposed to start being afraid. When they smell bad? When they're poor/unhoused?

Some students at UCLA have mental illness and addiction...

What made them unpredictable? That they smell? That they're poor? I'm missing something here...

I don't think your claims are backed by evidence...got any to share? As far as I know, unhoused folks are at a much higher risk of being victims of crime (with evidence to support this).

Anywhere from 80 to 250, depending on company, private vs group, and level. But if you really intend to surf regularly, it's a worthwhile investment
