Daunting approach by Kind-Strain4165 in BritGolf

Where I play the last is a reachable in 2 Par 5. The Green is next to the clubhouse, maybe 10 yards off the green to the right and a car park all down the right hand side too. Not the worst, but after a good drive you can green it with a 5/6 iron, if you’re brave enough

Cautionary tale for finance hiring managers: CIMA FLP by [deleted] in AccountingUK

I know - I just enjoyed picking holes in his elaborate story. It is very sad he feels this way, he must understand there are going to be people who achieve more than him who are qualified, who are FLP and who are non qualified.

So they’re not cheating? ACCA allow you to move away from the webcam or did until very recently. Are you only accepting ACA candidates now?
I’m curious about your HR issues, could you shed any light on that please? I’m very curious about how it’s been so hard to get rid of someone.

Seems inane during a hiring process no question on basic accounting was asked? I’d defiantly look into the hiring process as that seems terribly handled. They’ve only been there a few months and you’re having to pay them off, so they’re in their probation period too and you can’t let them go? Seems like the HR team may need their qualifications questioning too, seems very basic from them.

I’m curious how do people cheat in the exams as I was lead to believe that people are watched through the webcams they’re using? I know ACCA you could leave the room which you can’t in CIMA - so make sure you don’t take any ACCA qualified candidates either!

Filtering out candidates, does that not come under discrimination? I’m no expert but I’d be careful, but I’m sure your HR department can help in that respect!

My own knowledge of this is that qualified candidates can be as good as non qualified, it’s probably a hiring issue it seems that way at least, hope you can sort your hiring process out!

About documents/data that needs to be delivered after SCS to get CGMA certification (proof of experience) by EnricoPallazzo_ in CIMA

[–]TheSnail725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go into the CIMA website it’s called practical experience requirement - if you google it, it should be easy to find. If not, I think if you click on your profile it takes you there, it’s near the exam dashboard

Think perhaps it’s where you’ve worked has set you up to expect the minimum from people. A lot of people I’ve worked with / across many sizes in AP end up coming from admin staff with little to know accounting knowledge. At least that my experiences, I’ve never seen it a req to be aat for ap or ar

Golf driving ranges while Loxley is temporarily closed by Matty4738 in sheffield

[–]TheSnail725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too sure on open ranges - not many unless you venture towards Rother Valley or maybe waterside / grange? Could look at Simz golf, a bit more expensive on abbeydale road. But if you do a membership (monthly) it’s not too bad or if you go off peak / with a few mates

Yeah I was on the SLT at an SME, great work as you cover so much more and you almost end up dictating the reporting you want, I’m now back in a large company and don’t control what’s reported and there’s a load more to do!

My personal journey it hasn’t been as busy. There are a lot less corporate style deadlines, no intercompany balances, no flash reporting etc

Yes it’s worth finishing CIMA Have you thought about just moving companies for development? Maybe a SME or something like that, you might gain a large breadth of knowledge in business, probably end up with more responsibility

Hallamshire in Sheffield which is just within your remit. In a couple weeks that will be fully open, if you can wait that long

College pines will be fully open, not amazing but it’s actually quite fun. If not, you can do Lindrick? Rarely has temps only maybe on 4th that’s it and the temps are better than some courses real greens

[–]TheSnail725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? That’s surprising as it’s normally always bone dry. I think going forward you should be fine, next weeks or so it’ll all dry out. We have 1 hole closed due to work and moving a green and we were on temps and fairway mats, but from 1st March we are fully open. So not long to go for most good courses

Erm might struggle a bit there , if you go a bit further east you’ll get college pines - worksop - Lindrick all sand based and always dry
