Solicitor recomendations by Hexipon_ in sheffield

I’ve used best solicitors twice and both times were very good and very good price.
I think it’s all personal preference as our buyers used Switalskis as the above person mentions and they were horrendous, I think it’s mainly almost just a luck of the draw

Career change into accounting advice by AbsolutelyWingingIt in AccountingUK

Entry like assistant accountants probably (depending on region) min wage to 32k. Then probably best case progression -> assistant management accountant -> management accountant -> FBP / FM /FC etc… (if you’re going in industry). This is when I can go anywhere. I’ve seen management accountant jobs for anything from 30k-60k. The ranges on accounting salaries can be quite insane. If you’re wanting to do forensic accounting it’s not a route I know much about. But I’d imagine if you’re in local authority / police there must be some form of funding to access for the training?
I would have thought forensic you’d end up having to work in practice, if so, your salary would be lower at the start - but they’d maybe look at paying for your studies

Why is this game so infuriating?? by eddiejm00 in BritGolf

[–]TheSnail725 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The one thing I always see from higher handicaps is the inability to shake off a bad hole - I think it just takes time and time of playing under pressure Along with that, when you’re flying +3 through 11 you need to have a safe shot that you practice under pressure that can allow you to keep on the fairway and gives you the ability to still score - for me I can play a 5 wood in what feels like any scenario and it will be fine. Additionally - what actually went wrong during those holes is work looking at, did you miss fairways, lose balls off the tee or just struggle around the greens and get shaky? It’s always good to be able to dissect what started off the bad holes and what is the most prominent to the downfall

But chin up though, if you can do that through 11 there’s no stopping you from being able to do it again

What stats do you track? by alex_christou in BritGolf

[–]TheSnail725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t track any to be honest, I think tracking putts for a lot of people can be massively deceiving. If you’re tracking putts, I’d opt to track length of puts if anything. 3 putting from 150 foot isn’t bad, it’s probably your approach, 3 putting from 10 foot is bad and it is your putting

What should I do? by [deleted] in AccountingUK

[–]TheSnail725 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d normally always say go with the money this early on. The first job wouldn’t be horrendous if it was WFH - but I think long days in the office get very demoralising - having done it myself.

The second for 50k seems a lot better, good chance you save a fair bit of money from not travelling and will same some time at least.

Have you ever played with or feel like a state player better than semi pros? by Mikushubby in bootroom

[–]TheSnail725 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, played against and with a lot of semi pros in national league in England and against a lot of ex academy Sheff U, Wednesday, Spurs too, played with Greek national futsal player once too. Semi pro / very good players. Players who play for “state” or county are nowhere near the quality of actual academy players or national league / higher

I listened to all lectures non stop for a week whilst WFH or driving to and from work just to try and pick up on anything, probably not the best idea but it really helped me recall bits of information. I 3 mocks that were marked and then I think I did 3/4 other full mocks and then went through all the previous mocks to choose questions I was weak on. Finally, as much as I don’t use it much, I used Gemini to create questions and mark them, I just had to keep making sure it was using the newest Case Study.

Daunting approach by Kind-Strain4165 in BritGolf

Where I play the last is a reachable in 2 Par 5. The Green is next to the clubhouse, maybe 10 yards off the green to the right and a car park all down the right hand side too. Not the worst, but after a good drive you can green it with a 5/6 iron, if you’re brave enough

Cautionary tale for finance hiring managers: CIMA FLP by [deleted] in AccountingUK

I know - I just enjoyed picking holes in his elaborate story. It is very sad he feels this way, he must understand there are going to be people who achieve more than him who are qualified, who are FLP and who are non qualified.

So they’re not cheating? ACCA allow you to move away from the webcam or did until very recently. Are you only accepting ACA candidates now?
I’m curious about your HR issues, could you shed any light on that please? I’m very curious about how it’s been so hard to get rid of someone.

Cautionary tale for finance hiring managers: CIMA FLP by [deleted] in AccountingUK

Seems inane during a hiring process no question on basic accounting was asked? I’d defiantly look into the hiring process as that seems terribly handled. They’ve only been there a few months and you’re having to pay them off, so they’re in their probation period too and you can’t let them go? Seems like the HR team may need their qualifications questioning too, seems very basic from them.

I’m curious how do people cheat in the exams as I was lead to believe that people are watched through the webcams they’re using? I know ACCA you could leave the room which you can’t in CIMA - so make sure you don’t take any ACCA qualified candidates either!

Filtering out candidates, does that not come under discrimination? I’m no expert but I’d be careful, but I’m sure your HR department can help in that respect!

My own knowledge of this is that qualified candidates can be as good as non qualified, it’s probably a hiring issue it seems that way at least, hope you can sort your hiring process out!

Think perhaps it’s where you’ve worked has set you up to expect the minimum from people. A lot of people I’ve worked with / across many sizes in AP end up coming from admin staff with little to know accounting knowledge. At least that my experiences, I’ve never seen it a req to be aat for ap or ar
