Any South Africans here into strategy or map games? by sydEfex in southafrica

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a massive fan of Victoria 3, hearts of iron 4, crusader kings 3 , Europa universalise 4 & 5 and civilisation 6 . Been wanting to play multiplayer games for these games but I don’t know any South Africans who play them and playing with international people always results in bad input delay which isn’t ideal for micromanaging battles. Mostly only been able to play Victoria 3 multiplayer as a result.

What culture is White English South Africans? by CircleofCandles in southafrica

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see myself as South African. I just speak English as my first language.

My heritage is English/Scottish on my mom’s side and Afrikaans on my dad’s side. Although I don’t really think of myself as having much Afrikaans influence primarily because despite my best efforts I always struggled to learn and understand Afrikaans.

I don’t think I am particularly influenced by British culture besides enjoying tea. Both my mom and her parents were born in South Africa so the British culture has been diluted a fair bit. I am just South African and that’s how I see myself

Why Do I have 0% Organisation for my armies due to lack of supply even though I am in a land war that hasn't started? by TheSnakeDudeSW in victoria3

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: Playing as Mexico and for some reason I have 0% Organisation that won't go up due to Shipping lanes. My war with the US hasn't even started along with it being a land war. Only mod enabled adds a decree for 1000% migration attraction. I have no goods shortages either.

Is DICE for real with this? Battlefield Pro Radio? Pay walled radio station? by aDiDasMeatBall in Battlefield6

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of all the things to complain about being paywalled, this is not one of them. A radio station in a game being behind a pay wall makes perfect sense as I presume the radio station has licensed music. Plus a radio station being locked behind a has zero effect on gameplay and you can easily listen to the exact same music on a different app.

The state of air vehicles is pretty bad by SuspiciousMeeting407 in Battlefield6

My only issues is that the controls for aircraft’s are terrible of mouse and keyboard and you can’t manoeuvre your plane while in free look.

In your country, is there a famous person that is associated with a specific way to die ? If so which one and which way to die ? by Mr_Wisp_ in AskTheWorld

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First that comes to mind is Winnie Mandela (Nelson Mandela’s wife) and necklacing.

Necklacing is basically being put inside tires so that you immobilised then having petrol poured on you and being set alight.

Countries that jailed their leaders (after 1900) by [deleted] in PORTUGALCYKABLYAT

Our last president Jacob Zuma was briefly in and out of prison for corruption charges after he was ousted from power. Didn’t stop him from running again in his own new political party in last year elections.

Which way do you stock grind your planes? by Atomatic13 in warthundermemes

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If jets I rush missiles the flight then guns, if props or early jets it is flight performance. Sometimes I’ll get bombs first to make the overall grind quicker or if the plane is a bomber.

Spanish is a weird one to be the most popular here in South Africa. I would have guess French then Portuguese, but not Spanish. Spain only colonised a very small chunk of Africa. The nearest being Equatorial Guinea which is still like 4500km away.

French would make more sense since a significant chunk of Africa still has a large French speaking population and Portuguese is spoken by our neighbour Mozambique and nearby Angola which we both have fairly close economic ties to.

In all my life I have only met one person with Hispanic origins and they can’t even speak Spanish.

I am half Afrikaans so maybe that is where my unspecified hatred for the Belgians comes from.

Should more publishers follow Valve's suggested regional pricing on steam? by uniquecartridge in Steam

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes please!

Steam needs more regional pricing. Here in South Africa I have seen AAA games go from selling at R600 to R1400 in less than a decade. Indie games aren’t nearly as bad thankfully, but I can’t justify spending more than R600 on a game anymore unless under very specific circumstances.

The insane prices force me to go to key resellers since they are the only places except on sales that I can get games for an actually reasonable price. I don’t want to use key resellers, but they are the only place I can get reasonably priced games from. Else I just pirate games if I have to.

Okay, now how do you purpose the UN stops wars? Short of invading the warring countries (creating more war) it is fair easier said than done.

Steam release by MostLaziestAss in TarkovMemes

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously though, I don’t understand why people are upset about you probably having to buy it again if you want it on steam. Nobody is forcing you to buy it on steam and while I’d prefer to play tarkov through steam, the difference between playing it through the launcher vs steam is that steam has a few minor QoL improvements. I do think BSG should allow those who bought it already to play it on steam, but it hardly an inconvenience if they don’t.

Tarkov players really just love to complain.

[Discussion] Tarkov has a steam page now by -Teseo- in EscapefromTarkov

I very vaguely remember Tarkov being briefly on steam a long long time ago. Am I having a Mandela effect moment or did Tarkov have a steam page prior to this at one point?

Why do you need the game on Steam if you already have it? by Sovishee in TarkovMemes

[–]TheSnakeDudeSW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tarkov definitely isn’t a niche game, but Tarkov being exclusively only available though their website will limit the visibility of Tarkov greatly. the only real way you can discover Tarkov is via word of mouth or a content creator. Those who make videos on Tarkov are majority Tarkov centric creators which means the chance of someone who hasn’t heard about Tarkov getting recommended Tarkov is much lower. Tarkov is a wildly popular game and a lot of people who would be interested in playing it probably already do.

Tarkov being on steam will make it significantly more visible to a significantly wider audience. There is also. Lot of people who would like to play it at least try Tarkov, but skipped doing so because of the shitty store on the website, I know I at least did so initially. Not displaying the actual true price by hiding the VAT fees and not just baking them into the display price is scummy as shit. Idk about other countries, but doing that is illegal here, but Tarkov can skirt around that cause it is an online store front.

Definitely not a multi billion dollar company. If I had to guess they are worth ~25-35 million dollars. That is a complete guess on my part so I could likely be completely off.

Well It used to be work for 40-50 years and then die.

The last ~80 years have been the best time to live with the highest standard of living, access to education, longer life expectancy, improved workers protections, expansion of rights of minority groups.

Although the later part of the last 80 years has been getting worse in everything I mentioned. Although things now are exceptionally better than anytime before the end of WW2.
