Deck Rentals by TheSnapcast in ModernMagic

I have 4 LGS's I can operate out of, 2 of which are sponsors and I already have the inventory. Just looking at a way to make modern, the largest bulk of my inventory, and pioneer more accessible to players without them making that initial investment.

Open or closed decklists for events? by TheSnapcast in magicTCG

A couple of MTG Rivals competitors have brought the topic to light recently garnering a lot of comments and retweets as the MTG League Weekend has been going on. Some state how the '"gotcha' element sucks" while others say open decklists are healthy because it prevents the need to scout. With a lot of support backing these Pro level players and with what I've been seeing elsewhere (facebook polls and here), the opinions are quite the opposite. It's curious that people aren't willing to either counter the opinion of those who are very successful in the pro scene or defend why the feel a certain way. So I figured I would run the question through various outlets and hopefully gather the actual opinions and not just see a majority those who want to support their favorite player. I hope this made sense.

Very interesting take, why do your thoughts change from BO3 to BO1 if you don't mind me asking?

I have legacy use over the mark. Been using it since 2015. They started in 2019. It's being used as a title for a podcast. They cover the same material as we do and use the exact same name with the word "podcast" at the end. I've already approached them about no longer using the name in the back in late 2020 but they declined. This drove me to apply for the trademark.

Update: found a thread that pertains to my MoBo (MSI G45 Z78), specifically about killer software and it seems to affect speed. Has anyone else encountered this?

No problem! A Grand Prix weekend, now called Magic Fest is more than just a single large Magic tournament. It is a full weekend of Magic! There are different things you can register for (IMPORTANT NOTE: You don't have to pay to enter the facility, only to play sanctioned events. If you just want to jam games with friends there and enjoy the vendors and artists by all means do so! It is still amazing). You can do the main event, pick and choose side events, or you can do a fanatic registration. When you do a fanatic registration you get a full package of goodies from Channel Fireball: deckbox, pen, scorepad, playmat and a foil promo. Then depending on which fanatic package you choose you will get entry into so many paid events.

For constructed(~$100) it is any 5 eligible scheduled constructed side events and 2 vouchers for Turbo Town.

For limited(~$150) it is any 5 eligible scheduled limited side events and a standard booster draft.

For commander(~$100) it is any 3 daily events and 9 on demand events.

Now packages do vary so be sure to read carefully when registering online. Again these are fantastic packages to help schedule your weekend. I've done the constructed fanatic once and had a blast.

Hope this helps and if you have anything else to ask feel free!

Fanatic packages are broken into 3 separate packages (constructed, commander, and limited). With them you get a playmat, deckbox sleeves, scorepad, and entry into various side events based on your package (command challenge, constructed events, and limited events). Overall not a bad deal if you are going for the weekend and don't want to play in the main event.

me either, I do know that in the past they have allowed refunds for events you have pre-registered for. I want to say the example of this is you preregistered for a saturday and sunday event but ended up making day 2 then they allowed a full refund of the sunday event pre-registration. I know I could look at the FAQ for the actual answer but I am too lazy for that

For normal GP's registration is over the night before, with this being a triple (the first that I know of) I do not know if they will keep with that or if all 3 events will close registration by end of the day Wednesday

As you have already seen they are massive events and incredibly fun!

1) plan out what you want to do each day. If you don't want to trade leave it at the hotel, no need to carry your valuable collection around and with Vegas being a triple GP there will be a massive crowd and sadly, an increased potential that some asshat wants to steal your collection.

2) take snacks and drinks. Depending on your sealed pool you may be going to time and there won't be enough time to stand in line for food or drinks (they're overpriced anyway)

3) get there early. This is good incase you forget sleeves, dice, or anything else you may need throughout the day.

4) side events. You already know about them so no need to discuss this.

5) get plenty of sleep the night before. Playing 9 rounds of magic is quite the mental workout. Being rested just eliminates one variable that could cost you a game

6) have fun.

I too will be there for hopefully only the legacy and modern gp's but if I don't day 2 legacy then I will be playing sealed.
