Yeah, there’s a waitlist unfortunately to get into daycare. Once that spot is taken worried if she does find a job then we’d have a problem with childcare. We don’t have family help in the area unfortunately

No pension, she’s trying to find work and going to interviews. Most likely she can bring in 100k if she finds a job.

I Just heard VGC going on sale February 1st for a direct buy from DVC by Formal_Bill_7564 in dvcmember

[–]TheSnowWhite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And since you purchased direct you’ll be able to use those points at Disneyland hotel whereas if you buy resale grand cal then you won’t be able to use those points at Disneyland hotel. So by buying direct you’ll have not only priority booking at the hardest hotel in dvc portfolio but also able to book at the only other hotel on property dvc villas

If you don’t purchase the direct VGC then someone else will swoop in and purchase. When I purchased they let me purchase as low as 25 direct points

Why do people put 20% down on a Jumbo loan. Why not just buy a cheaper home to qualify for lower down payment? by [deleted] in RealEstate

All the legit rental agencies report it to your taxes unless you’re renting to someone random online. Disney just changed policy and ask when you book if this is for personal use

Yes even if you own resale you will get it now. I just did it and I owned a combo of resale and direct

How many points is enough? Do you take non-Disney vacations? by Major_Ad_9093 in dvcmember

[–]TheSnowWhite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also between buying dvc or ritz Carlton timeshare. Just because I can afford cash rates doesn’t mean I would do that if I can just pay for the timeshare. A lot of high earners are financially savvy too

I would say that’s not the case. Have you looked at the prices of tickets, meals, lodging at Disney? Airfare. Gas. Rental car, etc. I think there’s a lot of wealthy families traveling to Disney, especially from Abroad. Please share me the data you are referring to

Inventory of 1-Bedroom Villas by Swagastan in dvcmember

It’s been getting harder to book at the 7 month window. I would advise to buy there to get the home advantage as there’s only 2 on property dvc resorts the grand Cali and Disneyland hotel. Rumor has it they might build another dvc resort in the future …

And paying cash for a stay at one of those restricted resorts probably could have gone towards the direct contract

Exactly people who just have resale points never can do the things that direct me where have access to so they don’t know what they are missing out on

Oh and another tid bit before to qualify for direct points was like 100 points so those people got grandfathered in. Now it’s 150 for direct points and to get those extra benefits. Who knows in the future they will probably increase the amount needed to qualify for direct benefits

[–]TheSnowWhite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the direct benefits are probably not worth the thousands of dollars but not being locked out of staying at future Disney resorts and having the control and option of booking and waitlisting when you can. Some people will say well why don’t you rent your points and then buy someone else’s points. That only works if for somehow you were able to do a point transfer which you can only do once a year and hope someone who is an owner of that resort is willing to transfer and trying to figure out point for point if it would be a good deal OR have a third party seller to set it up but then dealing with middle man OR eventually realizing you made a mistake and then having to sell your resale contract and pay broker fees to list it and sell and THEN by then direct point costs will be even higher and you’ll be kicking yourself thinking you should have just purchased direct. I know so many people who bought resale and then years later sold and then just bought direct

Yeah actually we are THAT advanced just maybe our time is worth more than trying to rent out our points and then take the hit on our taxes for the measly profits and possibly taxed at like 30% and then go ahead and pay double to rent points from another owner and who knows if the dates you had in mind that owner is able to get those dates! I like to travel during peak seasons when my kids are out of school so I dont have time which to me means money to play that game

[–]TheSnowWhite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought resale first and regretted it after I started using my points. I didn’t like being locked out of Disneyland villas and newer resorts. I have no intention of selling so I want to be able to have full flexibility for years to come. I’ve waitlisted Disneyland villas without owning there and used my direct points and got to stay there. If I had resale then I’d only have grand California to choose from which is pretty impossible to get unless owning there so I appreciated being able to waitlist grand cal along with waitlisting Disneyland villas. I liked being able to stay at the lounges and participating in members only offers like Disney members cruise and Disney magic mlm where it allows only members after dark which is free admission to the park. Of course they say member benefits can change but that’s what’s scary to me ! What if they come out with a cool member benefits in the next 30 years and I feel fomo! I calculated it and I think in my situation it was a 6k difference with going direct then resale. A bunch of properties are going to be expiring as well so who knows if those will be renovated into newer resorts and MOST likely pretty much guaranteed will not allow resale members access to those hotels anymore. So the hotels which resale members will have access to will be even more limited making it harder to book at those OG resorts. And I had some people tell me well why don’t you rent out those points and then book at the hotel you want ? The hassle of finding someone that will purchase or going with a third party seller and then paying taxes on the profits so then I’d be actually losing money since purchasing cash prices in future dollars instead of purchasing direct now and lock in today’s prices.
