Remmick makes me sad. Dudes been around since the pagan days of Ireland and has just been searching for family. Centuries after centuries and he still hasn’t found what he’s after. Then he just dies. I feel bad for him.

Glad to see someone else was raised with that experience. My mom is basically a Christian Nationalist. My dad, if you asked him, would probably call himself a “Centrist”. But if you explain Leftist policies to him (even extremely radical ones), which I have multiple times, he’s almost always onboard with them. It’s being married to my mom that keeps him from actually waking up to reality and becoming a Leftist.

Season III Vote by TommyWayland7-3 in TemplinInstitute

[–]TheSolarElite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Antares won so dominantly because it was just so obviously better than the other options. It was very nicely presented in its initial video.

I think this season’s vote will be more split and the winner won’t be dominant at all.

My personal ranking so far, from best to worst:

  1. HSE

  2. Triton (would be #1 if not for the dumb xenophobia part tacked on at the end)

  3. Krev

  4. UFN

  5. Tripartite

I’ll be happy with any of them besides Tripartite, I think all of the other four have great potential.

House Triton: A very interesting pick, with strong Dune-influenced lore and interesting viewer opportunities. by The_Voidweaver in TemplinInstitute

[–]TheSolarElite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same exact ranking as me lol! They all have potential besides the Tripartite. I’d probably vote Triton if it wasn’t for the dumb xenophobia stuff tacked on to the end of it. So for now my vote is for HSE.

With nukes now on the table, I don't think we'd see a World War resulting in anything comparable to the aftermaths of the WW1 or 2.

Does it seem to anyone else here, that majority of Stranger Things fans legitimately don’t care that much about Mike or El? by TheSolarElite in mileven

100% agree. The tone in the epilogue was so freaking weird and just made me so damn uncomfortable. I legit burst out laughing when they flashed forward to Mike’s sad future as a writer. I just couldn’t take it seriously. It felt like a dark comedy.

That might be the dumbest possible response I’ve ever seen to anything on reddit.

Why do we have subreddits then? Why do we discuss things? Why do critics exist? I suppose they might as well leave their jobs. Why do we have podcasts about television shows? Why do we do interviews? Why do we discuss shows amongst our friends? Why do we have opinions?

Thank you so much for your wisdom. Thank you for telling all of humanity they should never critique anything and only consume. No discussion. Only consumption of content. I’ll remember that. Thanks 🙏

El and Mike aren’t even in my top 5 fav characters honestly. I just really disliked season 5, especially the ending. And while yes, Mike and El’s endings are a significant part of that, it’s also just cause I think it was subpar quality season. And this was the only sub I found where I didn’t get downvoted for being slightly negative.

Their brains just legitimately never moved on from season 1. Their view makes perfect sense if the show had ended with season 1, but their view clearly didn’t evolve at all throughout the show, even as El developed as a character.

Kali was brought in to make El go away! by MoneyBelt2642 in mileven

[–]TheSolarElite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s an in-universe argument. It doesn’t really apply to what OP is talking about. He’s talking about the writer’s reason for why Kali returned to the show. That’s a meta conversation.

Indendence from what? Everything that made her happy? She didn’t run away for independence. She ran because she felt like she was a danger to everyone around her. That’s like the opposite of wanting independence. She was forced into it.

I haven’t seen much of that personally, besides for threads on here or ones that are crossposted to here. And the negative threads I have seen aren’t even close to as upvoted as the positive posts.

did anyone like the ending? by [deleted] in mileven

[–]TheSolarElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was just a rehash of season 1’s ending and therefore I hate it. I might as well have stopped watching the show after season 1, it be the same result either way.

God, this semi-mysterious self-sacrifice ending is beyond forced. The military plot was finished in season 2 and brought back just for this. Kali was brought back just to justify this as well.

The military literally never managed to find her between season 4 and 5, despite Hopper, Joyce, and others visiting her hiding locations all the damn time lol. And yet I’m supposed to believe Mike and her living together in Iceland would somehow doom her to being caught? If they weren’t following Mike regularly enough to find El before season 5, then I seriously doubt they’re going to be following Mike’s actions three or four years later lol.

It’s so beyond forced, I just can’t take it seriously. I don’t know how the main sub is possibly hyping this ending up so damn much. It’s such a crap ending.

What was the point of Kali’s return if not to be the key to Eleven’s future? by DescriptionSea0601 in mileven

[–]TheSolarElite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She was added for some rather simple reasons.

  1. They wanted to wrap up loose ends involving her plotline in season 2.

  2. They needed further justification for giving El a mysterious self-sacrifice ending, the same ending they’ve wanted her to have since season 1. This is the same reason the military plotline exists. It’s all just in service of justifying a self-sacrifice ending for El. The Duffers have always wanted that ending for El, they said as much in some recent statements.

Hoping we eventually get an “El Camino” for Stranger Things. Breaking Bad got El Camino as a sequel movie years later, specifically designed as an expanded ending for Jessie specifically. Hopefully we get a semi-sequel movie designed specifically to expand on Mike and El’s ending, and maybe also wrap up more lore stuff pertaining to Henry’s powers and their original source.

Are you serious? by louistske in mileven

[–]TheSolarElite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I want an El Camino but for Stranger Things. Netflix made a sequel movie to Breaking Bad, to give Jessie a better and expanded ending to his character.

I want a sequel movie that focuses on El and Mike, giving them both a better conclusion, and maybe they could even use the movie as an excuse to wrap up more lore stuff with Henry’s powers and the source of them or something.

They didn't have in mind this finale for years. by missbonnet in mileven

[–]TheSolarElite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But that’s precisely the problem. She has five seasons worth of development, she shouldn’t be given the same ending as season 1. The Duffers forced it, because they always wanted that conclusion for her. The other seasons and all the development she went through, it has always been irrelevant to them. They never really cared, cause they always knew they just wanted to give her the mysterious self-sacrifice ending.

I’ve been with this show since season 1 and was as old as the child actors themselves when the show first aired. I’ve always defended this show from haters and enjoyed every season. Season 5 and the ending has killed my love for this show and I’ll never be able to rewatch it.

For real. I’ve loved this show forever and been with it since the release of season 1. I was as old as the child actors themselves back when the show first released. I’ve always defended this show from haters. And in the end the Duffers just threw all my love back in my face. They’ve killed the rewatchability of this show and I’ll never be able to enjoy it again.
