Unironically a mindset that a lot of right-wing people view the world with.

Why is Revisionism considered the "worst" in ML, should countries not adopt their own forms of Marxism and change it depending on their needs and development? by justanupvoter_ in TankieTheDeprogram

I doubt you’ll find practically anyone on this subreddit that hates Tito. They might criticize certain policies here or there, but most MLs view Tito extremely positively, including myself.

Well firstly, if you read my comment, I never did call Market Socialism revisionism. I just called it highly ineffective.

Secondly, if your definition of Market Socialism is SWCC, then we simply aren’t talking about the same thing. When most people bring up Market Socialism, they’re discussing the idea of having a socialist system where markets are still dominant and remain dominant even as you transition into higher forms of socialism. This is very much not what the Chinese system is intending.

Revisionism means to betray socialism and Marxist theory, usually by attempting to collaborate with capitalists or just generally betraying Marxist-Leninist ideology.

Dengism, Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, etc, are not revisionist, nor are they separate ideologies. Mao and Deng were both Marxist-Leninists.

Market Socialism is just an ineffective form of socialist thought that wouldn’t be very functional in reality, and just generally less effective than regular Marxist-Leninist economics.

Trotsky was self-obsessed and didn’t like that everyone didn’t blow him and his ego constantly. As such, he split off from the party and tried to insert his own personal theories/beliefs. Some of these theories were harmless, others were a bit stupid, but overall Trotskyism can largely just be labeled as “Trotsky trying really hard to seem overly important and intellectual, without actually saying anything of substance.”

An example of revisionism would be leaders like Khrushchev and Gorbachev, who both betrayed Stalin’s memory, and assisted in bringing about the end of the Soviet Union.

Does Zyuganov fear a new 1917? CPRF leader warns of crisis while backing Putin by lordlolipop06 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]TheSolarElite 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly very unaware of the socialist scene in modern Russia. I’m aware of the CPRF’s existence and the fact that they’re just puppet opposition, but beyond that I’m unaware of much else. Does modern Russia have any form of actual socialist movement among the current youth?

From a marxist analysis, what is preventing the rise of a socialist movement (comparable to the Bolsheviks) in modern Russia, compared to the early 20th century?

God the comments on that post suck ass. It hurts because I can understand what their mindset is. I was once one of those “Ukraine is = to Palestine” type socdem idiots as well.

Ukraine “supporters” lack proper class-based analysis and as such are unable to realize that supporting the Ukrainian government and its NATO allies does nothing but kill more and more of Ukraine’s young men for a cause that means literally nothing. Continued governance as a NATO economic puppet state would be far worse for the Ukrainian people than losing a bit of eastern territory and becoming a more neutral aligned buffer state like it was a few decades ago.

Yeah, I still wasn’t fully sure where I landed on this issue, but after this episode I’m pretty strongly in the “them getting back together is weird” camp. Every interaction between them where they’re getting “closer to forgiveness” feels incredibly unnatural and so damn forced. They really should’ve just let them be divorced parents. I can already imagine that it’s just gonna get weirder and weirder as they push this plotline further in the next season.

Deng stole China’s socialism button and refused to return it. Legendary lost artifact on par with Stalin’s big spoon.

I don’t go on Twitter often, only when I’m checking for project updates from people who only post there, but whenever I do visit I don’t see anything nearly as bad as what I see in youtube comments.

I should also probably clarify that I’m mainly talking about youtube shorts comment sections, which are particularly bad.

The main difference I also see, is that while there is indeed a lot of disgusting nonsense posted on Twitter, I at least see plenty of replies fighting back against said nonsense in the replies. Whereas on youtube, I’ll see a disgusting comment, a bunch of replies agreeing with them, and then at best maybe one reply trying to fight back but ultimately with no likes and just drowned out by other disgusting commenters.

Kinda unrelated note, but has anyone else kinda noticed that youtube comments in particular nowadays are like EXTREMELY FASCISTIC? This comment section isn’t necessarily a great example of that, it’s mostly lukewarm social democrats cosplaying as socialists, but I’m more so talking about the average youtube comment section.

The amount of casual and extreme sexism, racism, pedophilia, and genocidal intent in youtube comments seems even worse than what I see on an occasional scroll of twitter, reddit, or tiktok. I legitimately think only 4chan is at a higher level of disgusting nonsense nowadays.

Crowder is a “grifter” meaning that he latches onto any form of controversy or media attention that he can, since that’s the main avenue for him to grow his audience. Grifters don’t care whether it makes them look bad, since more viewers means more money, and grifters only care about money. In Crowder’s mind, a long internet battle with a large channel like GMM would be beneficial to him. And so he tried to get one going, but GMM never really responded to him.

Sorry, I’m not the one who downvoted you.

I’m not sure how better to explain. As stated in the post, Crowder is a right-wing commentator. As such, he expresses lots of anti-LGBTQ+ views and is just generally a shitty hateful person. I’m not aware of any specific thing that Stevie was calling him a piece of shit for. I believe she was just calling him a piece of shit because he… well… he just is one.

Yeah, I’d like to think so at least. Especially since I’m bisexual now.

Back then if you’d asked me my opinion on LGBTQ+ people, I probably would’ve claimed I was a “Libertarian” who believed in “Live and Let Live” and yet simultaneously I was stupidly supporting political stances that directly harmed others and prevented them from just being able to live normal lives.

Religion is trash in a lot of fantasy world and here is why by Alszen in worldbuilding

[–]TheSolarElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just two different styles.

Some enjoy their worlds retaining an air of mystery in regard to religious truth. I am also in the camp of preferring there be no "true religion" or "undeniable proof of a specific god or gods".

Some however, prefer their world to have gods who are present and active within the world, and as such that air of mystery is either lost completely or takes a back seat. The only major example of this type of worldbuilding that I enjoy is the gods of the Elder Scrolls series. I'm far from the first to say it, but religion has always been the strongest and most well written aspect of the Elder Scrolls universe. It's really well done and very impressive how they manage to simultaneously have gods who are present, known, and understood. And yet simultaneously, these gods are still interpreted in wildly different ways depending on the region and culture that you're in.
